Johnson } [delivery notes erased] To all to whom, these presents shall come, Joseph & William Scott of the County of Nansemond Send greeting Whereas one John Johnson of the County of Southampton by his Certain Indenture of Mortgage bearing Date the 13th. day of July 1775 & duly recorded in the Court of the County of Southampton, did sell and Convey unto the said Joseph & William Scott and to their heirs and Assigns, forever, One Certain tract or parcel of Land and premises, whereon the said John Johnson then dwelt Containing by estimation six hundred and forty Acres more or less, for Secureing the Payment of One hundred and thirty three Pounds three shillings & four pence one farthing with Interest thereon from the day of the Date of the (said) [page break] [p.] (421) said Indenture, with a proviso of redemption on the Payment of the said Sum & Interest, and Whereas the Aforesaid John Johnson hath since the Condition in the said proviso Mentioned, by paying the Aforesaid sum of £133.. 3.. 4¼ with Interest to the said Joseph & William Scott Now know ye that we the said Joseph & William Scott as well for & In Consideration of the Payment of the aforesaid, sum & Interest the receipt whereof we do hereby Acknowledge as for divers Other Good causes & Consider =ations, us thereto moveing, have for our selves Our heirs: remised released & quit claimed to the said John Johnson & to his heirs & assigns forever, all the estate right title, equity of redemption, claim & Demand Whatsoever, of us the said Joseph & William Scott our heirs ex'ors: & Adm'ors: of in & to the said Land & premises & one negro Robin four Work horses & two Beds, in the said Indenture Mentioned In Witness whereof We have hereunto set our hands & fixed our seals this 9th.
