(OB1768-72:156-57 & 252) In the prior deed [DB4:240-41] William GLOVER purchased the 727a. residue of the 1098-acre tract "Quinquan" from the executors of William HAYNES, 20 Feb 1770 (8 Mar 1770); file at: http://files.usgwarchives.net/va/southampton/deeds/04db240.txt At the time, BAKER & HAYNES had an ongoing suit against GLOVER, finally dismissed at GLOVER's costs, 12 Jul 1770. (OB1768-72:300) William HARRISON & wife Ann of Isle of Wight Co. sold 185½ acres, a moiety (half) of this tract, to John LAWRENCE, 11 Oct 1770 (12 Oct 1770). [DB4:310-11]; file at: http://files.usgwarchives.net/va/southampton/deeds/04db310.txt HARRISON was paid £62.12.7 [or £62.4.7 - the deed & receipt disagree] for the first moiety, & £65 for the second, far less than the £185 that he & WHITE paid GLOVER.
