   Harmon HARRISS [HARRIS] to Benjamin BRITT, 
   deed of bargain & sale, 13 Dec 1787

This Indenture made this thirteenth day of December 
One Thousand seven hundred and eighty seven  Between Harman 
Harris and lucy his wife of Southampton County on the one part 
And Benjamin Britt of the aforesaid County on the other part 
Witnesseth that the said harman Harriss and Lucy his wife 
hath for and in Consideration of the sum of Fifty pounds Current 
Money of Virginia to them in hand paid by the said Benjamin 
Britt  the receipt whereof they the sd. Harman Harris and Lucy 
his wife do hereby Acknowledge and confess they the sd. Harman 
Harris and Lucy his wife have granted Bargained and sold & by these 
presents do grant bargain and sell alien enfeoff and confirm 
Unto the said Benja: Britt and to his heirs and Assigns one Certain Tract 
of Land situate lying and being in the county of Southampton and 
Bounded as follows  Begining at a Turky oak in Williamsons line 
thence along a line of Marked Trees south thirty five degrees east 
One hundred and forty four pole to a pine  Thence south sixty 
Two degrees, East Twenty pole to a spanish Oak in Matthew Britts 
line  thence along the said Britts line north eighty eight 
Degrees East seventeen pole to a Pine  Thence Along the sd. line

South eighty three degrees East two hundred & Twenty three 
pole to a pine  thence along a line of marked Trees North six 
degrees East thirty four Pole to a Pine in John Claytons line 
Thence along the said Claytons line North forty seven degrees 
West fifty eight pole to a Turky Oak  thence North eighty two 
degrees West one hundred and forty four Pole to a pine  thence 
South Nine Degrees west One hundred forty eight pole to 
a Pine  thence a straight Course of Marked Trees North 
fifty eight degrees Easte One hundred and sixty pole 
To the Begining with all Houses orchards waters and water 
Courses Profits and hereditaments Whatsoever to the said 
Tract of Land and Premises belonging or in Any wise apperta
ining thereto  in or upon the same growing & happening or 
Arising and also the revertion and reversions  remainder and 
remainders rents and services of all & singular the sd. premises 
With their appurtenances and also all the estate right title 
Interest Claim or demand of them the sd. Harman Harris and 
Lucy his wife of in & to the same  To have and To hold the sd. tract 
of landand appurtenances unto the said Benja. Britt his heirs & 
Assigns to the only proper use of him his heirs and Assigns ~ 
forever  And the said Harmin Harris and Lucy his wife the afore 
said tract of Land and premises the said Benja. Britt his 
heirs and Assigns forever against them the said Harman Harris 
and Lucy his wife and their heirs and against all and every 
other person or persons whatsoever shall and will warrant & by 
these presents forever defend  In Witness whareof the Said ~ 
Harmon Harris and Lucy his wife have hereto set there hand 
And affixd their seales in the day and Year above Written ~

                                        Lucy  X  Harris  ĪsealĪ 
                                             mark 

   At a Court held for the County of Southampton in 
  the 13th day of December 1787 __ This Indenture was ~ 
 Acknowledged by the within named Harmon Harris _ 
And Lucy his wife  she being first Privily examined as 
The Law directs and Ordered to be Recorded ~
