All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/va/vafiles.htm ************************************************ Southampton County Virginia USGenWeb Archives Deeds James CLARK & wife Susannah to Harmon HARRISS [HARRIS], deed of bargain & sale, 710 acres, 8 Nov 1787 (13 Dec 1787) [margin notes] Cark [sic] & wife To Harriss June 25 1803 Del'd to Elias Williamson This Indenture made this Eighth day of November ~ Anno, Dom One thousand seven hundred and eighty seven Between James Clark and Susanah his wife of the County of Southampton of the one part and Harmon Harriss of the aforesaid of the other part ~ Witnesseth that the said James Clark and Susanah his wife for and in Consideration of the sum of thirty Pounds Current Money of Virginia to them in hand paid at or before the sealing and Delivery of these - presents the receipt whereof the said James Clark and susanah his wife doth hereby acknowledge themselves fully Satisfied Contented and paid hath granted Bargained sold Alien'd enfeoffed and Confirmed and by these Presents, doth grant Bargain sell Alien enfeoff and Confirm unto the said Harmon Harriss and to his heirs and assigns forever all that Tract of Land and premises with the appertenances situate lying and being in the _ County of Southampton which I hold by Virtue of the last will and Testaement of my Father containing by Estimation fifty Acres more or less and lying on the south side of the main black Water swamp and bounded as follows, Begining in Warrick branch at the mouth of the bog branch thence up the Various Courses of the bog branch to a white oak a Corner of Burwell Williamson & sd. Harrisses land thence Along the sd. Line to a Pine in Warrick Branch thence down the Various Courses of the said branch to the begining_ also all woods underwoods ways water and water Courses with all Profits Commodities and advantages whatsoever to the same belonging or in any wise appertaining and also the reversion and reversions remainder a remainders rents and services of the said premises and every part and parcel thereof & also all the estate right title Interest claim or demand what soever of him the said James Clark and Susanah his wife of in and to the same premises and every part thereof To have and To hold all and singular the said premises above Mentioned and every part and parcel thereby [sic] with the appertenances unto The [said] Harmon Harriss his heirs & Assigns To the only Proper use and Behoof of him the said Harriss his heirs and Assigns forever And we do [page break] [p.] 26 thereby f with [sic] Covenant promise and grant to and with the said Harmon Harriss his heirs and assigns the said Land and every parcel thereof is free and Clear from all other gifts grants Mortgages and all other Incum brances whatsoever in which I do transfer and oblige my self my heirs and Assigns to warrent and Defend this my sale of all and singular the premises together with their appertenances unto him the said Harmon Harriss his - heirs and Assigns against all and every other person or persons shall and will Warrant and forever Defend by these Presents In Witness whereof we the said James Clark & Susannah have hereunto set our hands and affix'd our seals the day and Year first above Written Signed sealed and Delivered} In presents of } James Clark ¤Seal¤ Myca.
