Whitehead to Arthur Whitehead carried to April court 1793 This Indenture Made this eleventh day of December in the year of our lord one thousand seven hundred and Eighty Nine between William Whitehead of Virginia and County of Southampton of the one part and Arthur Whitehead of the County state aforesaid of the other part Witnesseth that the said William Whitehead as well for and in Consideration of the natural love and affection which he hath and beareth unto the said Arthur Whitehead for & in Consideration of the sum of five Shillings the receipt of which he acknowledges hath given granted aliened enfeoffed and Confirmed and by these presents doth give grant and Confirm unto the said Arthur Whitehead his heirs and assigns all the tract or parcel of land lying and being in the County of Southampton and on the south side of Notoway River Containing five hundred and forty four acres more or less formerly the Property of Jesse Whitehead decd. and bounded by the lines of Mary Whitehead Nicholas Maget [sic; Magette] Henry Turner and Wm. Allen with all houses Edifices hereditaments and appurtenances what= soever to the said Messuage or tenement belonging or in any wise appertaining and the Reversion and Reversions Remainder and remainders rents & services of all and singular the said premises also six Negroes Vizt. Ned Judah Priss Jorden Abby Jacob and all the other personal estate which he hath now in Possession formerly the property of Jesse Whitehead decd. to have and to hold the said Messuage or tenement land and premises and other estate above Mentioned hereby granted & Conveyed with their appurtenances unto the said Arthur Whitehead _ his heirs and assigns forever and the said William Whitehead for him self his heirs Executors and administrators doth Covenant promise and grant to and with the said Arthur Whitehead his heirs and assigns shall and lawfully may from henceforth forever peaciably and quietly have hold possess and enjoy the said Messuage or tenement and other estate above mentioned to be hereby given and granted with their and every of their appertenances clear and discharged or well and sufficiently saved and kept harmless of and from all other gifts & Incumbrances whatsoever in Witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and Seal the day and year above written Signed Sealed & Delivered} In Presence of } Francis Cook } William Whitehead ¤sl¤ Nicholas Maget } Katherine Whitehead ~^~ [page break] [p.] 339 At a court held for the County of Southampton the 8th.
