I Jordan Judkins of Southampton County having under my care two Negroes Diner 
aged about forty six years  Ben about Twenty six years which Negroes I have - 
heretofore held as Slaves but being fully persuaded that freedom is the right 
of all man kind I do hereby emancipate and set the said Diner & Ben free and 
secure to them their person and any estate they have or may hereafter acquire 
from me and my heirs or any person Claiming for by from or under me 
I also have two Negroes now in their Minority (to wit) Silvy aged about 
Sixteen years and Isaac about five years which I also emancipate & free 
when they shall arrive to the age prescribed by law the Male to Twenty one & 
the Female to eighteen years  But I keep to the priviledge of 
acting as Guardian for them during their Minority.  In Witness - 
whereof I have hereunto set my hand and fixt my seal this ninth 
day of January one thousand seven hundred and ninety ~

JUDKINS' name also appears spelled Jourdan. 

Witness David BARROW was a Baptist minister and justice, who freed his slaves 
   10 Feb 1784 (11 Mar 1784). (DB6:208; Order Book 1778-1784, p. 383)
