All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/va/vafiles.htm ************************************************ Southampton County Virginia USGenWeb Archives Deeds William CRICHLOW to Lemuel HART, deed of bargain & sale, 104 acres, 11 June 1795 [margin notes] Crichlow to Hart This Indenture made this 11 day of June in the year of our Lord Christ 1795 Between William Crichlow of the parish of Nottoway & County of Southampton of the one part and Lemuel Hart of the Same Parish and county aforesaid of the other part Witness that the said Will.m Crichlow for and in consideration of the sum of Eighty pounds current money of Virginia to him in hand paid the receipt whereof I the said William Crichlow doth hereby acknowledge and himself fully and entirely Satisfied contented and paid have bargain'd sold Alien'd Enfeoff'd & confirm'd, & by these Presents doth hereby bargain Sell alien forever plantation Enfeoff and ^ confirm unto the said Lemuel Hart his heirs and assigns forever one certain tract ^ or parcel of land lying and being Situate in the Parish and county aforesaid containing by Estimation One hundred & four acres be the same more or less and bounded as follows (to wit) beginning at a black Gum a corner tree on the white root branch thence neare [sic] a South South west course to a Pine a corner tree a dividing line Geo Washington (Son of Geo) [?] and said tract thence binding on Joseph Washington's line to a lightwood Stump a corner tree thence binding on Geo. Washington (of Arthur) to a Small Hickory a corner tree made by the late Parties thence a line of mark'd trees. a division An [?] the remainder of the said tract to the head of a small branch thence down binding on the run of the said branch to a mapel [sic] a corner tree on White Roote branch then down the various courses of the run ["of" struck] to said branch to the first station _ Being part of a Patent of Twelve hundred acres granted and forty acres formerly granted to Richard Washington bearing date the 16 Dec.r 1714 and thence Possessed by different Propietors [sic] unto the said Will.m Crichlow to these Presents come Possessed of the Same in fee [page break] [p.] (187) Simple as will fully appear by a conveyance of Hardy Doyel to him dated the 10.th day February 1785. Reference thereunto may more be had together with all houses outhouses Gardens Orchards Waters Water courses mines & Minerals & all other the Profits commodities and hereditaments whatsoever to the same belonging or in any wise appertaining To have and to hold the said bargain'd Premises with the appurtenances unto the said Lemuel Hart his heirs and assigns forever with the reversions [sic] Reversions remainder and remainders rents Issues and Profits thereof and every part and Parcel thereto the only Proper use and behoof of him the said Lemuel Hart his heirs and assigns forever & he the said William Crichlow for himself his heirs Executors and admor.s doth covenant Promise grant and agree to and with the said Lemuel Hart his heirs and assigns forever in the following manner (that is to say) that he the said William Crichlow at the time of Signing & Sealing these Presents stands lawfully Seiz'd & pure and Possess'd of in and to the said bargain'd Premises in a {"pure and" struck] good ^ estate in fee Simple & that the same is freely fairly & clearly acquited of and fro all former Gifts Grants Mortgages dowers Joynture and of and fro all manner of Incumbrance whatsoever and the said William Crichlow hath a good Right and lawful authority to Sell & convey the said bargain'd Premises with appurtenances unto the said Lemuel Hart his heirs and assigns he the said William Crichlow his heirs Exors & admors will warrant and forever defend by these Presents; against all the lawful Clame [sic] of all & every Person & Persons whatsoever and whomsoever _ In Witness whereof he the said William Crichlow hath hereunto Set his hand and affixed his Seal the day & Year before written Sign'd Seal'd and delivered William Crichlow In Presence of us [no witnesses given] Receiv'd the 11 June 1795 of the aforesaid Lem.l Hart the full Sum of Eighty Pounds Current money of Virginia being in full of the consideration within mention'd by me William Crichlow At a court held for the county of Southampton the 11 day of June 1795.
