All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/va/vafiles.htm ************************************************ Southampton County Virginia USGenWeb Archives Deeds James UZZELL & wife Lydia to Johnson BARNES, indenture dated 13 Jan 1796, acknowledged 13 Oct 1796 [margin notes] Uzzell & wife To Barnes This Indenture made this the thirteenth day of January one thousand seven hundred & ninety Six witness that James Uzzell and Lydia his wife of the county of Southampton and parish of Nottoway for & in consideration of the Sum of forty pounds good & Lawfull money of Virginia in hand paid at or before the sealing of these presents by the s.d Johnson Barns the Receipt whereof the Said James Uzell doth hereby acknowledge bargain sell alien release & confirm unto the said Johnson Barnes & to his heirs and assigns all that plantation tract or parcel of land and premises with the appurtenances now in tenure & occupation of the Said Johnson Barnes & to his heirs & assigns forever Situate lying in the county & parish of aforesaid containing by Estimation one hundred & Fifty acres be the Same more or less bounded by the lands of Richard Beels Beginning at a maple Down that said line to a line formerly called Clothers line to Willis Bowers down a Spanish Oak in John Bowers then by that Said line to a Pine in Hardy Johnsons line then by the said Johnsons line to the head of Rodgers branch then down to the Said maple the first Station all the houses out houses Edifices yards gardens orchards trees ways waters courses profits commodities hereditaments and appurtenances to the Said tract or parcel of land belonging or in any wise appurtaining and the reversion & reversions remainders and remainders rents Issues and profits & hereof & all the estate Right title and interest use trust possession property claim or demand watsoever of him the Said James Uzzell and Lydia his wife of in to the Same and every part thereof and all deeds evidences and writing touching or in any wise concerning the same to have and to hold the said plantation tract or parcel of land & premises with the appurtenances unto the Said Johnson Barnes & his heirs and assigns forever and the s.d James Uzzell & Lydia his wife for themselves heirs executors and assigns doth hereby covenant promise and grant to & with the Said Johnson Barnes his heirs & assigns by their presents that he the Said James Uzzell & Lydia his wife doth hereby grant unto the Said Johnson Barnes & his heirs and assigns forever shall & against the titles claims of demand of any person or persons whatsoever shall and will warrant & forever defend by these presents.
