     Johnson BARNES & wife Mary to James UZZELL, 
        deed of bargain & sale, 10 Jul 1795 (13 Oct 1796)

This Indenture made this 10 Day of July 1795 between Johnson Barns 
with Mary his wife of the one party & James Uzzel of Southampton County & 
Parish of Nottoway of the other part  Witnesseth that the said Johnson Barns 
of the said Parish & County with Mary his Wife for & in Consideration of the sum 
of forty pounds of Good & lawfull money of Virginia to them in hand paid by 
the said James Uzzel  the receipt whereof they do hereby acknowledge themselves infinitely 
satisfied and have paid [sic] have bargained sold alienated & confirmed and by these 
presents doth grant sell alien enfeoff and confirm unto the said James Uzzell 
One certain tract or parcel of land lying and being in the sd. county containing by 
Estimation seventy five acres be the same more or less bounded as followeth by 
the lands of Joseph Turner  Joshua Turner  Cordal Rowe  Jacob Corbet  Nelson Wade & 
Joshua Joiner.  To have and to hold the said Seventy five acres unto him 
the sd. James Uzzell his heirs and assigns forever with all the houses out houses 
edifices buildings Yards gardens profits Rents issues Remainders & Remainders 
to him the said James Uzzell his heirs executors administrators and assigns 
forever and the said Johnson Barnes and Mary his wife for themselves their 
heirs executors Administrators or assigns forever doth quit claim and 
forever defend the tract of land against the title of any other person or pers
=ons whatsoever claiming or demanding from him them or any of them by 
these presents.  In Witness whereof whereof the Johnson Barnes & Mary his 
wife have hereunto set their hands and seals this day and Year above 
written.
