Crichlow Deld. to Jno. Crichlow July 12 1802 This Indenture made this 14th. day of January, in the year of our Lord Christ, one thousand seven hundred and ninety seven, Between Exum Scott and Ann his wife of the County of Isle of wight, of the one part, and James Irvine of the County of Southampton of the other part, Witnesseth, that for and in consideration of the sum of twenty dollars current money of Virginia, by the said James Irvine to the said Exum Scott in hand paid, at or before the Sealing and delivery of these Presents, the receipt whereof he the said Exum Scott doth hereby acknowledge, and thereof acquit & discharge the said James Irvine, his executors & administrators. They the said Exum Scott and Ann his wife have granted, bargained, Sold, Aliened, enfeoffed, and confirmed and by these presents do grant bargain, Sell, Alien, enfeoff & confirm unto the said James Irvine, his heirs, and assigns, one certain tract or parcel of land, lying & being near the Town of Jerusalem, in the County of Southampton adjoining the Lott of William Crichlow, the said Lott having number twenty of the said Town of Jerusalem, and containing by estima =tion one Acre, and bounded as follows to witt, begining at the South west corner of the said William Crichlow's lott (Number twenty) thence along the road North sixteen degrees west thirteen pole to William Harts Corner, thence North sixty four degrees east twelve poles to the North east Corner, thence South twenty nine degrees east thirteen poles to the North east Corner of the said William Crichlow's lott thence to the begining; and all houses buildings, fencings ways, waters, water Courses, profits commodities hereditaments, and appurtenances, to the same belonging, or in any wise appertaining, and the reversion and reversions, remainder & remainders rents Issues & profits thereof, and all the estate right, title Interest property claim & demand, of them the said Exum Scott and Ann his wife, of in and to the same, and every part and parcel thereof, [margin note] Exd. [page break] [p.] 441 To have and to hold the said tract or parcel of land and premises with their, and every of their appurtenances, unto the said James Irwin his heirs and assigns, to the only proper use and behoof of him the said James Irwin his heirs and assigns forever, and the said Exum Scott & Ann his wife for themselves, their heirs, Executors and Administrators do covenant promise and grant to and with the said James Irwin his heirs & assigns, shall and may from time to time, and at all times hereafter, peacably and quietly, have hold, use occupy, possess and enjoy, the said tract of land, and premises, with their appurtenan= ces, and receive, and take the profits, thereof, without the lett or molest= ation, of them the said Exum Scott and Ann his wife, their heirs and assigns, or any person or persons whatsoever - And further that they the said Exum Scott, and Ann his wife, and their heirs, and all & every person claiming, by from or under them, any right title or Interest in the premises aforesaid, or before mentioned with their appurtenances, shall and will from time to time, and at all times hereafter, at the reasonable request, and at the costs and charges in the law of the said Exum Scott, and Ann his wife, their heirs and assigns, make and execute, or cause to be made done, and executed, all such further acts and deeds, assurances, or conveyances in the law, whatsoever for the further and more perfectly assuring the said land and premises with all their appurtenances, unto the said James Irwin, his heirs and assigns, as he the said James Irwin, his heirs or assigns, or his or their counsel learned in the law, shall be devised, advised or required And lastly that they the said Exum Scott, and Ann his wife, their heirs all and Singular, the before mentioned premises, and every part and parcel thereof, with their appurtenances, unto the said James Irwin, his heirs and assigns against them the said Exum Scott, and Ann his wife and their heirs, and against all and every other person or persons claiming or to claim the same, shall and will warrant and forever defend by these presents, In witness whereof the parties to these presents, have hereunto interchangeably, set their hands, and affixed their Seals, the day and year first above written. _ Sealed & delivered} In the presence of} Exum Scott ¤Seal¤ W.
