        deed of bargain & sale, 62a., 28 Oct 1796 (17 Jul 1797)

This Indenture made this 28th. day of Octr. one 
thousand seven hundred and ninety six, Between Joseph 
Scott & Mary his wife, of the County of Southampton of the 
one part, and John Odonnaley of the County aforesaid of 
the other part,  Witnesseth, that the said Joseph Scott for 
and in consideration of the sum of twenty one pounds fifteen 
shillings, current money of Virginia, by the said Odonnaley 
to them in hand paid, at or before the ensealing and delivery 
of these presents, the receipt whereof the said Joseph Scott 
doth hereby acknowledge, and thereof acquit and discharge 
the said John Odonnaley his heirs and assigns forever, and doth 
by these presents, acknowledge themselves to be therewith, fully 
contented and paid, they the said Joseph Scott, and Mary his 
wife [have] bargained sold & deld., and by these presents, do grant release 
and confirm unto the said John Odonnaley, his heirs and assigns 
one certain peice and parcel of land, lying in Southampton & 
bounded as follows (to wit) begining at a red oak, a new 
made corner tree, thence along a line of marked trees to a pine 
a corner in John Bryants line, thence along his lines to white 
oak, thence to a pine a corner in said Bryants line, thence 
along his line to a Maple a new made corner tree, standing in 
the trough branch, thence down the run of said branch to a dogwood 
standing on the of said branch, thence turning along Joshua 
Joyners line, along a line of mark'd trees to a pine, a new made 
Corner tree, thence along a line of new made mark'd Trees to a 
dogwood in John Bryants line, thence a straight course along a 
line of new mark'd trees to the begining, with the profits

commodities, and appurtenances to the same belonging or in 
any wise appurtaining, with the reversion & remainder, thereof, and 
all the right, and title of them the said Joseph Scott & Mary 
his wife, to the same, or any part of the aforementioned land 
containing sixty two Acres, to the only proper use benefit & 
behoof, of him the said John Odonnaley, his heirs, and assigns 
and the said Joseph Scott, and Mary his wife, their heirs and 
assigns, the said sixty two Acres of land, and premises 
unto him the said John Odonnaley, his heirs and Assigns forever 
against them the said Joseph Scott and Mary his wife, and against 
all persons legally claiming or demanding the same, shall and 
will warrant and forever defend by these presents, as witness 
the said Joseph Scott and Mary his wife, their hands and
