All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/va/vafiles.htm ************************************************ Southampton County Virginia USGenWeb Archives Land Records Exum SCOTT & wife Ann, of Isle of Wight Co., to William HART, deed of bargain & sale, 1a., adjoining Jerusalem, 14 Jan 1797 (16 May 1797) [margin notes] Scott & wife to Hart, This Indenture made this 14th. day of January, in the year of Christ, one thousand seven hundred and ninety seven, between Exum Scott, and Ann his wife of the County of Isle of wight of the one part, and William Hart of the County of Southampton of the other part witness, that for and in Consideration of the sum of [blank] current money of Virginia by the said William Hart, to the said Exum Scott in hand paid, at or before the sealing & delivery of these presents, the receipt whereof he the said Exum Scott, doth hereby acknowledge, and thereof acquit, and dis= charge the said William Hart, his executors and Administrators, they the said Exum Scott, and Ann his wife, have granted, bargained, Sold, alien'd enfeoff'd and Confirmed, and by these presents, do grant, bargain, Sell alien, enfeoff and Confirm, unto the said William Hart, his heirs, and as= signs, one certain tract or parcel of Land lying in the County of Southampton and adjoining the Town of Jerusalem, in the said county, and Containing by estimation one Acre, and bounded as follows to witt, Begining at the North west corner of Doctr. James Irwin's Land, thence along the North sixteen degrees west seventeen poles, thence North fifty eight degrees east, seven Poles, thence along the Town line, South twenty nine degrees East to the South east Corner of Doctor James Irwin's land, and all houses, buildings, fen= cing, ways, waters, watercourses, profits, commodities, hereditaments and appurtenances unto the same belonging, or in any wise appurtaining, and the reversion, and reversions, remainder & remainders, rents Issues and profits there =of, and all the estate, right, title Interest, property claim, and demand of them the said Exum Scott, and Ann his wife, of and to the same, and every part and parcel thereof, To have and to hold, the said tract or parcel of Land and premises, with their and every of their appurtenances, unto the said William Hart, his heirs & assigns forever. And the said Exum Scott & Anne his wife, for themselves, their heirs executors & Administrators do covenant promise and grant to and with the [said] William Hart, his heirs and assigns that the said William Hart, his heirs and Assigns, shall and may from time to time, and at all times hereafter, peaceably and quietly have hold, use, occupy, possess and enjoy, the said tract of Land & premises with appurtenances, and receive the profits thereof without the let, or molestation of them the said Exum Scott & Ann his wife their heirs, and all and every person, claiming by from or under them, any right title or Interest in the premises before mentioned with their appurtenances, shall & will from time to time, and at all times hereafter, at the reasonable request & at the Cost and Charges in the law of the said Exum Scott and Anne his wife their heirs and assigns, make and execute, or cause to be made done and executed, all such further and other acts, and deeds, assurances, or conveyances in the Law, whatsoever, for the further and more perfectly assuring the said Land & premises, with all of their appurtenances unto the said William Hart his heirs and assigns, as the said William Hart his heirs & assigns or his, or their counsel learned in the Law shall be devised, advised or required.
