All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/va/vafiles.htm ************************************************ Southampton County Virginia USGenWeb Archives Deeds James UZZELL & wife Lydia to Joshua CORBET [CORBETT, CORBITT], indenture & receipt, dated 7 Aug 1801, acknowledged 17 Aug 1801 [margin notes] Uzzel & wife to Corbet This Indenture made this seventh day of August in the year of our lord One Thousand Eight Hundred and one, Witnesseth that James Uzzel and Lydia his wife, of the county of S.oampton and parish of Nottoway, for and in consideration of the sum of Ninety Pounds good & lawful money of Virginia, in hand paid by Joshua Corbet the receipt whereof the said James Uzzel and Lydia his wife doth acknowledge themselves intirely Satifyed and paid, doth grant, bargain; Aliened and Confirmed & by these Presents doth bargain sell alien & Confirm unto the said Joshua Corbet his Heirs and Assigns a certain tract or parcel of land Situated, lying and being in the aforesaid parish & County on the north Side of the Cypress swamp; Containing by Estimation one Hundred Acres be the same more or less, & bounded as follows, Begining at a Gum a Corner tree of William Joyners line, thence bounded by Joseph Turners line, thence by John Wrights, line thence by Covay Rowes line, thence by Corbets old line thence by Nelson Waids line, thence along William Joyners line to the first station, With all Houses, Out Houses, Edifices, Buildings Yards, Gardens Orchards ways Water courses, profits Heredi =taments and appertinances to the said land belonging or in any wise appertaining and all the profits thereof, Estate right Title Property Claim and Demand Whatoever of him the said James Uzzel and Lydia his wife, of in and to the same and Every part thereof and all deeds evidences & Writing toching or in any wise Concerning the same To have and to hold the said plantation tract or parcel of land forever & the said James Uzzel & Lydia his wife for themselves, their Heirs, Executors and Administrators, doth hereby covenant, promise and Grant to and with the Said Joshua Corbet his heirs and Assigns forever by these presents that the Said James Uzzel & Lydia his wife hath hereby Granted unto the Said Joshua Corbet his Heirs and [page break] [p.] 460 Assigns forever against the Title, Claim, or demand of any Person whatsoever Shall and will warrant and forever Defend, by these Presents in Witness whereof the said James Uzzel and Lydia his wife hath hereunto Set their hands and affixt their Seals this seventh day of August Anno Domini One Thousand Eight Hundred and one Sealed and Delivered } his In presents of } James + Uzzel ¤Seal¤ James Jones } mark B.
