Britt (of John) of So.ampton County and Wilton ,Fort, Lewis Jinkins of the County aforesaid of the other part ( Witnesseth) that the said Benja. Britt for and in consideration of the sum of Nine Pounds Current money of Virginia to him in hand paid by the sd. Wilton ,F,L, Jinkins, on or before the sealing of these Presents the receipt whereof the sd. Benja. Britt doth hereby Acknowledge and thereof acquit and discharge the said Wilton ,F,L, Jinkins, his heirs Executors Admrs. and Assigns [Hath given granted -cropped in online image] [page break] [p.] 44 Bargained sold Alien[ed] enfeoff'd and Confirm'd and by these presents doth Grant bargain sell Alien release enfeoff and Confirm unto the said Wilton ,F,L, Jenkins and to his heirs and Assigns forever, a certain tract or parcel of land lying and being in the County of So.ampton ( (aforesaid) Containing by estimation forty six Acres be the same more or less, which sd. tract or parcel of land was Bought by the said Britt at his Fathers Sale and bounded as follows (Vizt.): Begining at a Stooping Beech thence along a branch dividing Robt. Bowden decd. Plantation & said tract of Land to a pine a Corner tree between Joseph Britts. Junr. Robert Bowden and said tract of land, thence along a line of marked trees to a pine a divi= =ting tree between the said Joseph Britt, Beasant Britt, Arring =ton Britt and said tract of land thence along a straight line of marked trees throught the orchard to a white Oak at Black Water Run, thence up the main run of black water to the first station To have & to hold the said tract or Parcel of land with the appertenances unto the said Wilton ,F,L, Jenkins & to his heirs & assigns to the only proproper use & behoof of him the said Wilton ,F,L, Jenkins, his heirs & assigns forever & the said Benja. Britt for himself his heirs Execrs. & Admrs. hereby covenant & [a]gree to & with the sd. Wilton ,F,L, Jenkins his heirs exers. Admrs. & Assings that he the said Benja. Britt will warrant & defend the title to the afore sd. mentioned Land & premises against all and every other Person or Persons lawfully Claiming the same & that the sd. Wilton F.L. A transcription of the deed (DB3:161-62) is posted at: http://files.usgwarchives.net/va/southampton/deeds/03db161.txt The 1786 will of John BRITT named as his executors Benjamin BRITT and William CRUMPLER (who refused). It is not clear from the records how Britain BRITT became the acting executor [the Order Books are missing].
