All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/va/vafiles.htm ************************************************ Southampton County Virginia USGenWeb Archives Deeds Commissioners John BOWERS, William POPE & Joseph DENSON to Carr BOWERS, indenture dated 28 Oct 1803, proved 19 Dec 1803 & 20 Feb 1804; ordered 20 Sep 1803, sold 13 Oct 1803, reported 19 Dec 1803 [margin notes] Commissioners to Bowers This Indenture made this 28.th day of October Eighteen Hundred and three Between John Bowers, William Pope & Joseph Denson Commissioners of the court of So.ampton county of the one part and Carr Bowers of the same County of the other part, Witnesseth that the said John Bowers William Pope & Joseph Denson for and in Consideration of the just and full sum of thirty one pounds and a shilling Virginia currency to them in hand paid by the said Carr Bowers. on or before the ensealing & delivery of these presents the receipt whereof the said commissioners doth hereby acknowledge and thereof acquit and discharge the said Carr Bowers his heirs and assigns forever, and themselves fully and intirely satifyed and paid, they the said John Bowers William Pope and Joseph Denson Commissioners agreeable to a decree of the Court of So.ampton County hath publickly sold granted released set over delivered and Confirmed unto the said Carr Bowers his heirs and assigns forever all that plantation tract and parcel of land (excempting the dowable claim of the Widdow as mentioned in the decree) whereof William Raiford died possessed of situated in the county of So.ampton and Containing by estimation two hundred acres more or less and bounded as follows, begining at the horse bone Branch down the Run s.d branch to a line of marked trees to the broad gutt down the Gut to black water, down black water to the mouth of the troft branch up the s.d branch to a dogwood a Corner tree, thence along a line of marked trees to the first begining= With all and every of the improvements belonging or in any wise appertaining the Profits there of and all right title Interest Claims & demands of them the s.d Commissioners, of, in, and, to the same and every part and Parcel thereof _ To have and to hold the s.d Plantation tract and parcel of land with all every of the Appurtenances as afore s.d unto him the s.d Commissioners and to his heirs forever_ To the only proper use and behoof him the s.d Carr Bowers his heirs and assigns forever= and the s.d John Bowers, William Pope and Joseph Denson as Commissioners for themselves their heirs &c- the s.d Plantation tract and Parcel of land with all and every of the Appurtenances as afores.d unto him the s.d Carr Bowers his heirs and assigns forever against them the s.d John Bowers William Pope, and Joseph Denson _ Commissioners and against their heirs Ex.rs administrators by these presents - [page break] [margin notes] [p.] 258 In Witness whereof we have here unto Set our hands and Seals the day and year above written = Signed Sealed and Delivered} John Bowers ¤Seal¤ In presents of __ __ _} his W Evans } William x Pope ¤Seal¤ John Moore } mark E.
