All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/va/vafiles.htm ************************************************ Southampton County Virginia USGenWeb Archives Deeds William WASHINGTON to James SCOTT, deed of bargain & sale, 459 acres & personal property, 20 Aug 1804 (20 Feb 1805) [margin notes] Washington to Scott 25.th April 1805 Delivered to James Scott Ex.d This Indenture made this 20.th day of August in the Year of our Lord 1804 Between William Washington of the County of Southampton and State of Virginia of the one part, & James Scott of the County and State aforesaid of the other part;_ Witness that the said W.m Washington for and in Consideration of the Just and full Sum of eight hundred Dollars Current Money of Virginia by the said James Scott- to him in hand paid, the receipt whereof the said William Washington doth hereby Acknowledge and thereof Acquit and discharge the said James Scott his heirs and Assigns and himself therewith fully and entirely Satisfied Contented and paid he the said William Washington hath granted bargained, Sold aliened, enfeoffed and released Setover deliv.d & Confirmed, and by these presents doth Grant bargain, Sell Alien enfeoff, Release Set over Deliver & Confirm unto the said James Scott and to his heirs and Assigns forever All them [sic] Plantations mesuages [sic] tracts or parcels of land Which George Washington dec.d gave by his Last will ["and testament" struck] to his son the aforesaid William Washington Also all them plantations mesuages tracts or parcels of Land which [page break] [margin notes] [p.] 419 Ex.d [in modern pen, p.] 419 which the said William Washington bought of Sam.l Ricks Also acertain part of that plantation tract and parcel of Land which the said William Washington bought of the said William Crichlow, situated lying and being in the county and state aforesaid containing in the whole by estimation four hundred & fifty nine Acres be the same more or less and is bounded as follows (Viz.t) beginning at aGum by the run of the long branch in a line formerly Willis Washington's dec.d now called Evan's line along said line to a line formerly Lemuel Hart's dec.d ["line" struck] now called Hart's line, thence along said line form =erly Barnabas Drake's dec.d now Called Called [sic] Drake's line, thence along s.d line to Thomas Johnson line thence Along said line to James Whitehead line, thence Along said line to W.m Wrenns line, thence Along said line to the run of Flaggy branch, thence down the run of said branch to the run of Flaggy Swamp, thence Up the run of said branch to the Begining; And all the houses out houses, edifices, buildings woods, ways, waters, and water Courses, gardens, orchards, low grounds pastures, profits, Commodities hereditaments and Appurtenances Whatsoever to the Same belonging or in Any wise Appurtaining and the reversion and Reversions, remainder and remainders, rent, Issues and profit thereof, and All the Estate right title interest Claim and Demand of him the said [margin notes] Ex.d William Washington of, in and to the Same and every part & parcel thereof, Also three horses twenty Cattle two feather beds & furniture and all my house hold and Kitchen furniture and plantation implements To have and to hold the said plantations mesuages, tracts and parcels of ["Land" overwitten] four hundred & fifty nine acres of land and premises with all and every the Appurtenances as aforesaid to gether [sic] with all and every the other granted premises goods and Chattles unto him the said James Scott and his heirs & Assigns forever; to the only proper use and behoof of him the s.d James Scott and his heirs and Assigns forever; the said William Washington for himself his heirs executors Aministrators [sic] and assigns doth hereby Confirm the said plantations mesuages, tracts and parcels of four hundred and fifty nine Acres of Land and premises with [page break] [margin notes] [p.] 420 Ex.d with all and every the Appurtenances there unto Belonging, with all and every the other granted premises goods & Chattles unto him the said James Scott and to his heirs and Assigns forever, against him the said Wm. Washing [sic] his heirs executors adm.rs and Assigns, and Against all & every other person or persons What soever or Whom soever Claiming or Demanding the same or any part or article thereof shall & will Warrant and forever Defend by these presents; and the said Wm.
