George &.c  To all &.c  Know Ye That for divers good Causes and Consideraç'ons 
but more especially for and in Consideraç'on of the Sum' of Thirty Shillings of 
good and lawful money for our use paid to our Receiver-General of our Revenues 
in this our Colony and Dominion of Virginia  We have given granted and confirmed 
and by these presents for us Our heirs and Successors Do give grant and confirm 
unto John Drew of Surry County One certain Tract or parcel of Land containing 
Two hundred and Seventy Acres lying and being on the North Side of the Lightwood 
Swamp in the County of Isle of Wight and bounded as followeth to Wit  Begining 
at a Maple by the Side of the Said Swamp a Corner of his own Land 
Thence by his own line North Forty Degrees East Two hundred and Twenty Two pole 
to a Stooping Red Oak 
Then North West by North one hundred and Twenty Eight pole to a black Oak 
Then South Seventy five Degrees West Seventy pole a White Oak 
Then South by East Ninety Two pole to a Gum by the Side of the Lightwood Swamp 
aforesaid and down the various Courses of the run of the Said Swamp to the 
begining  With all &.c  To have hold &.c  To be held &.c  Yielding and paying 
&.c  provided &.c  In Witness &.c  Witness our Trusty & Welbeloved Hugh Drysdale 
Esq.r our Lieut. Gov.r &.c at Williamsmsburgh under the Seal of our Said Colony 
the fifth day of September  One Thousand Seven hundred and Twenty Three in the 
Tenth Year of our Reign ~
