WESTRAY and Nancy his wife, Thomas PRETLOW and Jane his wife, Joshua PRETLOW and Nancy his wife and Polly DENSON, all of the county of S.o'ampton and parish of Nottoway of the one part and Matthew MOUNTFORD of the same county and parish aforesaid of the other part Witnesseth that the said Benjamin WESTRAY and Nancy his wife & Thomas PRETLOW and Jane his wife, and Joshua PRETLOW and Nancy his wife and Polly DENSON for and in consideration of the sum of two hundred and eighty two dollars current money of Virginia to them in hand paid by the said Matthew MOUNTFORT on or before the signing sealing or delivery of these presents the receit whereof the said Benj. WESTRAY and Nancy his wife and Thomas PRETLOW and Jane his wife and Joshua PRETLOW and Nancy his wife and Polly DENSON doth acknowledge themselves therewith fully and amply satisfied, hath bargained, sold, aliened, enfeoffed and confirmed and by these presents doth hereby bargain alien enfeoff and sell unto the said Matthew MOUNTFORTT his heirs and assigns forever one certain tract or parcel of land and Premises, situate, lying and being in the county and parish aforesaid containing by estimation eighty acres be the same more or less and bounded as follows (to wit) begining at a sweet gum standing in Nottoway swamp run thence a line of marked trees to a pine a corner, and from thence along a line of marked trees to a Hycory a corner tree in the dividing line between John MOORE and the said land thence along a line of marked trees to a Pine standing in the run of a small branch a dividing line between Matthew JOHNSON and the said tract of land thence down the run of the said branch to a black gum thence by a line of marked trees to a black gum standing on the run of Nottoway swamp a corner tree thence up the run of the said swamp to the begining, together with all houses, edifices, buildings yards gardens orchards, ways waters and water courses, and all other profits and commodities thereunto belonging or in any wise appurtaining, To have and to hold the said bargained Premises [page break] [p.] 237 with every of the appurtenances unto the said Matthew MOUNTFORTT his heirs and assigns forever, with the reversion and reversions remainder and remainders rents issues and Profits thereof and every part and parcel thereof, and the said Benj. WESTRAY and Nancy his wife and Thomas PRETLOW and Jane his wife and Joshua PRETLOW and Nancy his wife and Polly DENSON doth for themselves there heirs and assigns covenant grant and agree to and with the said Matthew MOUNTFORD his heirs and assigns in the following manner (to wit) that the said Benjamin WESTRAY and Thomas PRETLOW and his wife Jane and Joshua PRETLOW and Nancy his wife and Polly DENSON at the time of signing sealing and delivery of these presents stands lawfully seized and possessed of in and to the said bargained premises in a good and Pine[?] estate in fee simple and that the same is fully freely and clearly acquitted and discharged of and from all former gifts grants Deeds Mortgages dowers Jintures, and of and from all manner of imcumbrances whatsoever, and that them the said Benj. WESTRAY and Nancy his wife and Thomas PRETLOW and Jane his wife and Joshua PRETLOW and Nancy his wife and Polly DENSON hath a good and lawful right and authority to sell and convey the said land and Premises, in manner aforesaid, and all the said bargained Premises, and every of the appurtenances, unto the said Matthew MOUNTFORD his heirs and assigns forever, and they the said Benj.
