BOYKIN, deed of bargain & sale, 100 acres, 19 Feb 1814 (Mar 1814) [margin note] Commissioners to Boykin This Indenture made this nineteenth day of February in the Year of our lord one thousand eight hundred and fourteen between Silas Summerell and Arthur Holleman of Southampton county acting as Commissioners under a decree of the honourable court of Southampton bearing date January court one thousand eight hundred and fourteen one [sic; of] the one part and Samuel G. Boykin of the county aforesaid of the other part Witnesseth that the said Silas Summerell & Arthur Holleman Commissioners &Ce for and in Consideration of the sum of two hundred and seventy dollars to them in hand paid or secured to be paid before the sealing and delivery of these Presents the receipt whereof we the said Arthur Holleman and John Harris Commissi =oners &C do hereby acknowledge have (by virtue of the above mentioned decree) granted bargained and sold, and do by these Presents grant bargain and sell unto the said Samuel G. Boykin, his heirs and assigns forever (subject to the dower right of Elizabeth Atkinson wife of Timothy Atkinson and formerly wife of Joseph Britt Senr. deceased) one certain tract or Parcel of land situate lying and being in the county of Southampton, on the south side of a branch called Tarrepin branch, containing by estimation one hundred acres be the same more or less it being a tract of land Joseph Britt Senr. decd. Purchased of a certain Brittain Britt and conveyed to John Clements of Southampton by an Indenture in his life time for reasons set forth in said Indenture, and bounded as follows, begining at the run of tarepin branch in Simon Boykins line thence along a line of marked trees to a red oak a corner tree in said Boykins line thence along a line of marked trees to a white oak, a corner tree in said Boykins line thence along a line of marked trees to a corner tree in William Boykins line thence along a line of marked trees to the run of the said Tarepin branch thence down the run of said branch to the begining reversion and reversions remainder and remainders, rents issues and Profits and also all the estate right title Interest claim and demand, whatsoever of them the said Silas [page break] [p.] 24 Summerell and Arthur Holleman Commissioners &C their heirs and assigns forever of in or to the same or in any part thereof to have and to hold the said land and premises with the appurtenan =ces thereunto belonging, unto the said Samuel G. Boykin his heirs and assigns forever and the said Silas Summerell and Commissioners &C for their part their heirs executors and administrators do covenant grant and agree with the said Samuel G. Boykin his heirs and assigns by these Presents that said Silas Summerell and Arthur Holleman Commissioners &C the said land and premises every part and Parcel thereof unto the said Samuel G. Boykin his heirs and assigns against the lawful claim title and demand of them the said Commissioners their heirs and all and every other Person or Persons whomsoever claiming by ot through them as Commissioners shall and will warrant and forever defend unto him the said Samuel G.
