P. Nicholson April 19th. 1833 Exd. This Indenture made this 20th. day of March in the year of our lord one thousand eight hundred and sixteen between Joshua Fort James Trezvant John Crichlow and Henry Welsh gentlemen Trustees being duly elected in Conformity of an act of the General assembly of Virginia passed the 7th. day of December 1791 for the purpose of laying off a town by the name of Jerusalem on the lands of Joseph and William Scott adjoining the Courthouse of Southampton County of the one part and Collin Kitchen of the other part Witnesseth that the said Trustees as aforesaid for an in Consideration of the sum of nineteen pounds Current money of Virginia paid to the said Joseph and William Scott as will more fully appear by their receipt to Drewry Cotton for the said sum of nineteen pounds he being the original purchaser of lot No. 13 in the town of Jerusalem agreeable to the said act of assembly hath bargained and sold and by these presents doth grant bargain and sell alien and Confirm unto the said Collin Kitchen his heirs and assigns forever or [sic; one] lot or parcel of land lying and being in the town of Jerusalem__ distinguished and known in platt of said town by Number thirteen being one half of an acre and bounded as follows begining at the east Corner of main and Cross Street thence along the main Street Ninety feet four Inches to the South west corner of Lot No. 14 thence along the Line of No. 14 237 feet 9 Inches to the S.E. corner of Lot 14 ^ thence 94 feet 4 Inches to Cross Street thence along and binding on the Cross street two hundred and thiry seven feet nine Inches to the begining To have and to hold the said lot or parcel of land Number thirteen with all the appurtenances thereto belonging or in any wise appurtaining to the said Collin Kitchen his heirs and assigns forever and the said Trustees as aforesaid doth Covenant and agree to and with the said Collin Kitchen that they will warrant and defend all the right all the right [sic] title and interest in and to the said lot No. 13 as is Vested in them pursuant to the act of assembly appointing trustees for the town of Jerusalem unto him and his heirs forever [page break] [p.] 28 In Witness whereof the said trustees have hereunto set their hands and affixed their seals the day and year above Written Signed Sealed and acknowledged } J.
