   Barnabas DRAKE (Jr.) to son James DRAKE, 
   deed of gift, personal property, 19 Oct 1816 (7 Apr 1820)

   This Indenture made this ninteenth [sic] day of 
october in the Year of our Lord christ one thousand eight hundred 
and sixteen  between Barnabas Drake of the County of Southampton 
and parish of Nottoway of the one part  and  James Drake of the 
other part  Witnesseth that the Said Barnabas Drake for 
Sundry good causes and weighty codsiderations [sic] together with the good will 
and affection I have for my Son James Drake hath this day given 
granted and by these presents do firmly give grant and set over to my 
Son James Drake to him and his heirs and assigns foever [sic] the follow 
ing property  to Wit  Five feather beds and furniture  Eleven Cattle and 
Sorrel Horse and one Sorrel mare and still  ninteen Hogs  my crop of corn 
and fodder  three chest  seven pewter plates  two basons  two dishes 
twelve Spoons and pair spoon molds  one pair iron wedges and Bridle 
and Saddle and Cart and wheels and three raw hides  To have and 
to hold  all the Said granted property and every part thereof to his 
own proper use to him and his heirs and assigns forever  In witness 
whereof I have hereunto Set my hand and Seal the day and 
date first above written

Southampton County,  In the clerks office  the 7.th day of April 1820 
This deed of gift was acknowledged by Barnabas Drake the party thereto 
and admitted to record  And at a Court held for the county aforesaid 
on the 17.th day of April 1820  this deed of gift was entered upon the 
Proceedings of the day                      Teste
