JENKINS, to Kinchen & Burwell WILLIAMS, relinquishment of dower, 180 acres, Apr 1828 (19 May 1828) [margin note] Jenkins To K & B Williams This Indenture made this day of April in the Year of our Lord One thousand Eight hundred and twenty eight between Winifred Jenkins of Southampton County and State of Virginia of the one part and Kinchen Williams & Burwell Williams of the County and State aforesaid of the other part Witnesseth that the said Winifred Jenkins for and in consideration of the Sum of one hundred and twenty Dollars to her in hand paid or secured to be paid by the said Kinchen Williams & Burwell Williams before the ensealing and delivery of these presents The receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged has bargained and sold and by these presents doth grant bargain and sell unto the said Kinchen Williams & Burwell Williams their heirs and assigns all her Right of Dower in a certain tract of Land which her late husband Spencer R. Jenkins formerly owned adjoining the Lands of John Boykin and other and recently occupied by Thomas Pond and the reversion and reversions remainder and remainders yearly and other rents Issues and profits thereof and every part and parcel thereof To have and to hold the said tract and parcel of Land towit the said Dower of the said Winifred Jenkins with the Tenements hereditaments and all and Singular other the premises herein before mentioned or intended to be bargained and sold and every part and parcel thereof with every of their rights members and appurtenances unto the said Kinchen Williams and Burwell Williams their heirs and assigns forever and the said Winifred Jenkins for herself her heirs her said right of Dower with all and Singular the premises and appurtenances before mentioned unto the said Kinchen Williams and Burwell Williams their heirs and assigns free from the claim or claims of her the said Winifred Jenkins and of all and every person or persons whomsoever shall and do warrant and forever defend by these presents In Witness whereof the said Winifred Jenkins hath hereunto Set his hand and Seal the day and Date first above Written Signed sealed and delivered In the presence of Winifred Jenkins ĪSealĪ Silas Summerell Southampton County In the Clerks Office the 21st April John Mercer 1828. This Indenture was proved by the oaths of the Dempsey M. Crumpler Witnesses thereto and admitted to record And at a Court held for the County aforesaid the 19th May 1828. JENKINS, indebted to Thomas POND, executed a deed of trust on this tract to trustee Merit M. ELEY, for the benefit of Thomas POND, 20 Feb 1822.
