All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/va/vafiles.htm ************************************************ Southampton County Virginia USGenWeb Archives Land Records John DAVIS, trustee, to Kinchen & Burwell WILLIAMS, deed of bargain & sale, 200 acres, 21 Apr 1828 (19 May 1828) [margin note] Davis Trustee To K & B Williams This Indenture made this 21st. day of April One thousand Eight hundred and twenty eight Between John Davis acting as trustee for Thomas Pond of the County of Southampton of the one part and Kinchen & Burwell Williams of the County aforesaid of the other part Witnesseth that the said John Davis for & in consideration of the sum of five hundred Dollars to him the said John Davis in hand paid [by] the said Kinchen & Burwell Williams equally the receipt whereof the said John Davis doth hereby acknowledge and by these presents he the said John Davis Trustee, as aforesaid hath granted bargained and sold and by these presents doth grant bargain and sell unto the said Kinchen & Burwell Williams equally their heirs & assigns forever one Certain tract or parcel of Land lying and being in the County aforesaid on Black Water river supposed to contain two hundred acres but be the same more or less & adjoining the Land of John Boykin & John Urquhart being the Land formerly owned by Spencer R. Jenkins with all the appurtenances thereto appertaining unto the said tract or parcel of Land whatsoever of him the said John Davis as trustee as aforesaid hath unto the said tract or parcel of Land or any part or parcel thereof To have and to hold the said Tract and parcel of Land with the appurtenances to the said Kinchen & Burwell Williams equally & to their heirs & assigns forever. and he the said John Davis as aforesaid his heirs Ex'ors & adm'rs doth covenant and agree with the said Kinchen and Burwell Williams that he Will warrant and forever defend. the right and title that is vested in him the Said John Davis by Virtue of a Deed of Trust executed to him by the aforesaid Thomas Pond on the 3rd. day of April 1827. and no more Witness that the Said John Davis as aforesaid hath hereunto Set his hand. and affixed his Seal this day and Year above Written John Davis ĪSealĪ Southampton County In the Clerks Office the 21st April 1828. This Indenture was acknowledged by John Davis party thereto & admitted to record And at a Court held for the County aforesaid the 19th. May 1828. JENKINS, indebted to Thomas POND, executed a deed of trust on this tract to trustee Merit M. ELEY, for the benefit of Thomas POND, 20 Feb 1822.
