Witnesseth the Said Archibald Drake and Patsey for & in consideration of the just and full Sum of Three hundred and nineteen dollars and Seventy two cents current money of the United States of America in hand paid the receipt of which is acknowledged, and the Said Archibald Drake and Patsey his wife have given granted bargained and Sold and by these presents do give grant bargain and Sell unto the Said Matthew Drake and to his heirs and assigns forever all that tract or parcel of Land whereon the Said the Said Archibald Drake now lives being the Same tract or parcel of land which the Said Archibald Drake bought of Barnaby Drake, by Indenture bearing date the 20.th day of January one thousand Eight hundred, Containing by estimation One hundred acres be the Same more or less, bounded by the known and reputed bounds thereof also all the buildings woods waters advantages and appurtenances. to the Same belonging and the reversions remainders rents issues and profits thereof and all the Estate right and title of the Said Archibald Drake and. Patsey his wife of in and to the same To have and to hold the Said tract or parcel of land unto the Said Matthew Drake his heirs and assigns to the only proper use and behoof of the Said Matthew Drake his heirs and assigns forever. And the Said Archibald Drake and Patsey his wife their heirs Executors and administrators the Said tract or parcel of Land. with all and every the appurtenances thereunto belonging unto the Said Matthew Drake his heirs and assigns Shall and will warrant and forever defend by these presents. In Witness whereof. the Said Archibald Drake and Patsey his wife have hereunto Set their hands and Seals. the day and Year first above written Signed sealed & del.d in presence of his his Archibald + Drake ĪsealĪ Benjamin J. Claud and Jepthah Darden justices of the peace in the County aforesaid in the State of Virginia do hereby Certify that Patsey Drake the wife of Archibald Drake parties to the above deed personally appeared before us in our County afore= said. and being examined privily and apart from her husband and having the deed afore= said. fully explained to her she the Said Patsey Drake acknowledged the same to be her act & deed and declared that she had willingly Signed Sealed and delivered the Same and that she wished not to retract it. Given under our hands and seals this nineteenth day of October 1829 the parties thereto and Admitted to record And at a Court held for the County aforesaid the 16.th day of November 1829 The Said Indenture was entered upon the proceedings of the day Jo.s T. ĪsealĪ Southampton County In the Clerk's office the 19.th day of October 1829 This Indenture was acknowledged by Archibald Drake, and together with the Certifi= Cate thereon endorsed. Certifying the Relinquishment of Dower of Patsey Drake wife of Said Archibald Drake the parties hereto admitted to record And at a Court held for the County aforesaid the 16.th day of November 1829.
