All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/va/vafiles.htm ************************************************ Southampton County Virginia USGenWeb Archives Land Records Commissioners to John MERCER, deed of bargain & sale, 52½ acres, 18 Jun 1830 (19 Jul 1830) [margin note] Commissioners to Mercer This Indenture made this 18" day of June in the year of our Lord 1830 between William Bowden Robert Mercer and Benjamin Crumpler Commissioners appointed by the Honourable Court of Southampton to Sell the Land belonging to the infant heirs of William Crumpler decd. of the one part and John Mercer of the other [part] both of the County of Southampton Witnesseth that the Said Bowden Mercer and Crumpler for and in Consideration of Sixty five and ½ dollars to them in hand paid by the Said John Mercer before the ensealing and delivering hereof the receipt whereof the Said Bowden Mercer and Crumpler. commissioners doth hereby acknowledge hath granted bargained and Sold And doth by these presents grant bargain and sell unto the Said John Mercer his heirs and assigns forever. one certain tract and parcel of Land Situated lying and being in the County of Southampton it being a part of the lands which West Tynes died Seized and possessed of the Said tract or parcel of Land being the proportion of Sally Tynes daughter of West Tynes who married William Crumpler and was the mother of the Said infant Children namely Maria William and Margaret Crumpler and bounded on the S.E. by Solomon Crumplers Lands and bounded by the lands of Thomas Herring E. & by West Tynes N. and bounded by land [of] Arrington Britt N.E. And being by estimation fifty two & ½ acres be the Same more or less And the reversion and reversions remainder and remainders rents issues & profits and also the Estate right title interest claim and demand :whatsoever of them the Said Bowden Mercer. and Crumpler. commissioners and their heirs forever of in or to the Same or in any part thereof To have and to hold the Said Land premises with all the appurtenances thereunto belonging unto the Said John Mercer his heirs and assigns to the only proper use and behoof of him the Said John Mercer his heirs & assigns forever and the Said Bowden Mercer. and Crumpler. commissioners for their part their heirs Ex'ors &c. doth covenant promise and grant with the Said John Mercer his heirs and assigns by these presents that the Said Bowden Mercer. and Crumpler. Commissioners the Land And forever every part and parcel thereof unto the said John Mercer his heirs and assigns against the claim title and demand of them the Said Bowden Mercer and Crumpler. commrs. the heirs &c.
