Between Joseph Britt and Nancy his wife of the County of Southampton on the one part and John Urquhart of the Said County of the other part. Witness that the [said] Joseph Britt and Nancy his wife for and in consideration of the sum of fifty dollars to them in hand paid at or before the ensealing and delivery of these presents the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged have granted bargained and Sold and by these presents do grant bargain and sell unto the Said John Urquhart all their right and title to their undivided interest in a certain tract or parcel of land lying and being in the County of Southampton On the South Side of the main road leading from the middle Seacock to Broad water Bridge, whereon Rebecca Horn now resides belonging to the heirs of Robert Horn decd. (of whom the said Nancy Britt is one) To have and to hold the Said undivided interest in the said tract of land with all and singular the premises and appurtenances thereunto or in any wise appertaining unto him the said John Urquhart his heirs and Assigns forever, and the said Joseph Britt and Nancy his wife do by these presents warrant and will forever defend the right to the said undivided interest in the aforesaid tract of land unto him the said John Urquhart, his heirs and assigns against the claim or claims of all persons claiming by or through them and all other persons whomsoever. Drew, Justices of the peace in the County aforesaid in the state of Virginia do hereby Certify that Nancy Britt the wife of Joseph Britt parties to a certain Deed bearing date On the 5" day of April 1831- as within personally appeared before us in our County aforesaid and being examined by us privily and apart from her husband and having the Deed aforesaid fully explained to her She the Said Nancy Britt acknowledged the same to be her act and Deed and declares she had willingly Signed Sealed and delivered the same and that she wished not to retract it. This Indenture was proved by the oath of Kinchen Edwards one of the Witnesses thereto and having been proved in the Clerk's Office the 15th day of August 1831. by the oaths of John Bowers and James Holmes also Witnesses thereto the said Indenture together with the receipt thereon endorsed and the Certificate of the privy examination and relinquishment of Dower of Nancy Britt wife of Joseph Britt parties thereto thereto annexed are admitted to Record. And at a Court held for the County aforesaid the 19th day of September 1831. The said Indenture Receipt and Certificate were entered upon the proceedings of the day.
