   John MOORE, trustee of James MOUNTFORD decd. to James SCOTT, 
   deed of bargain & sale, 121 acres, 22 Jan 1836

   This Indenture made this twenty-first day of January  Eighteen hundred and thir=
ty six, between John More of the County of Southampton and state of Virginia of the 
one part and James Scott of the County and State aforesaid of the other part.  Witness=
eth that the said John More for and in Consideration of the just and full sum of 
one hundred and fifty dollars current money of the United States of America to him in 
hand paid, the receipt of which is acknowledged, and the said John More hath given gran=
ted, bargained, sold and delivered and by these presents doth give, grant, bargain sell 
and deliver unto the said James Scott and to his heirs and assigns all the tract or 
parcel of Land  in Southampton County aforesaid  which James Mountfortt decd. conveyed 
and confirmed unto John Moore  aforesaid by and in trust  to secure the payment of a 
debt due to the said James Scott bearing date the eighth day of February one thousand 
eight hundred and twenty three, containing by estimation one hundred and twenty 
one acres  be the same more or less and bounded by the known and reputed bounds 
thereof  reference  being had to the aforesaid deed in trust recorded in the Clerk's 
office for the County of Southampton  the bounds will more fully appear.  To 
have and to hold the said tract or parcel of Land with all and every of the 
appurtenances thereto belonging, unto the said James Scott, his heirs and assigns to the 
only proper use and behoof of the said James Scott, his heirs and assigns forever.  And 
the said John Moore  his heirs executors and administrators  the said tract or parcel of Land 
with all and every the appurtenances thereto belonging  unto the said James Scott his 
heirs and assigns against him the said John Moore  his heirs executors administrators 
and assigns, and  against  every other other person  claiming or demanding the same or any part 
or parcel  thereof  from, for, by or under him, shall and will warrant and forever defend. 
In Witness whereof the said John Moore hath hereunto set his hand and seal the day

James MOUNTFORD conveyed this tract & personal property to trustee John MOORE, 
   for James SCOTT, in a deed of trust, 8 Feb 1823.

James MOUNTFORD's estate was committed to the sheriff for administration, 
   15 Feb 1836- the same day this deed was presented in court.

on motion of James Scott, ordered that John Moore, Matthew Drake and Gray Edwards or any two 
of them, allot to Mary Munford, one third of the Lands of her deceased husband James Mun= 
ford to be held by her for life as her dower therein, and that the [sic] make report thereof to this Court.
