WILLIAMS, deed of bargain & sale, 100 acres, 21 Nov 1842 [margin notes] Joyner & wife to Williams Exam.d &. This Indenture made this twenty first day of November one thousand Eight hundred and forty two between William Joyner and Mary his wife of the County of Southampton and parish of Nottaway of the one part and James J. Williams of the aforesaid County of the other part Witnesseth that the said William Joyner and Mary his wife for the in [error underlined] consideration of the sum of one hundred dollars current money of Virginia paid unto the said William Joyner and Mary his wife at or be= =fore the ensealing or Sealing of these presents whereof the said William Joyner and Mary his wife doth acknowledge themselfs [error underlined] fully and amply Satisfyed and paid and hath granted and Sold unto the said James J. Williams to him and to his heirs and assigns forever one certain tract or parcel of land & prem= isses [error underlined] Situated and lying and being in the County aforesaid Containing by estimation one hundred acres be the saim [error underlined] more or less with reserving the interest of Polly Camp her life right beginin at Saifris [error underlined] post corner at Polly Joyner thence down the road to a Spanish oak corner of Tarlton Scotts line thence down the said line to a pine a corner of William Joyners thence bounded by the said line to a pine corner of of [error underlined] Beatons land to have and to hold the same together with all houses out houses Edifices yards gardings [sic], ways, water, and water corses [error underlined], belonging, or in any wise appertaining, to the said land to have and hold the saim [error underlined] to the Said James J. Williams to him and his heirs for ever & the Said William Joyner and Mary his wife for themselfs [error underlined] there [sic] heirs Executors and administrators doth by these presents bargain sell to the Said James J. Williams his heirs or assigns and they will by these preasant [error underlined] worrant [error underlined] and for ever defend all rights titles clames [sic] or demands of any person or persons claiming [sic] or demanding the Same or any part or parcil [error underlined] thereof. Spark Justices of the peace in the County of Southampton in the State of Virginia aforesaid do hereby certify that Mary Joyner the wife of William Joyner parties to the within deed, personally appeared before us in our County aforesaid and being examined privily and apart, from her husband and having the deed aforesaid fully explained to her She the Said = Mary Joyner acknowledged the same to be her act, and deed, and declared that She had willin= =gly Signed, Sealed and delivered, the Same, and that She wished not to retract it.
