WHITEHEAD to William RAIFORD Deed of Bargain and Sale [margin notes] J.B. WHITEHEAD To WILLIAMS Exam.d This Indenture Made this 17.th day of November in the year of our lord, one thousand eight hundred & forty five between J.B. WHITEHEAD of the one part, of the County of Isle of wight, and State of Virginia, and William RAYFORD of the County of Southampton and State aforesaid, of the other part. Witnesseth that the said J.B. WHITEHEAD for and in consideration of the sum of Sixty eight dollars to him in hand paid by the said William RAYFORD, the receipt whereof the said J.B. WHITEHEAD doth hereby acknowledge, hath granted, bargained and sold, & by these presents do grant, bargain, Sell and convey unto the Said William RAYFORD, his heirs and assigns, a certain tract or parcel of land, containing by estimation Sixty four acres, be the the same More or less, and being in the County of Southampton and bounded as follows on the east, by William RAYFORD's land North & west, by the lands of Calthorp BRANCH on the South & west, by Round hill Swamp; To have & to hold the said tract of land and all the tenements and appurtenances unto the said land belonging or in any wise appurtaining to the said William RAYFORD, his heirs and assigns forever and the Said J.B. WHITEHEAD the said land with all the tenements and appurtenances aforesaid unto the said William RAYFORD his heirs and assigns &c free from the claims or demands of all and every person whatsoever Shall will and forever defend [sic] In Testimony whereof he has hereunto set his hand and seal the day and year first above written J.B.
