HOLMES Bond (for Office of School Treasurer) [p.] 140 Know all men by these presents that we James HOLMES and Peter J. HOLMES are held and firmly bound unto the President & Directors of the Literary fund and their Successors in Office in the Just and full sum of three thousand dollars to which payment well and truly to be Made to the said President & Directors of the Literary fund and their successors in Office, we bind ourselves, our heirs, Executors & administrators jointly and severally- firmly by these presents, sealed with our seals and dated the 13.th day of November 1847 The Condition of the above obligation is Such that Whereas James HOLMES was on the 18.th day of October 1847 by the School Commissioner in and for the County of Southampton appointed their Treasurer for the year ending on the 31.st day of December 1848. Now if the said James HOLMES shall faithfully apply and account for all Monies which May come to his hands by virtue of his Office and shall perform & execute all and every act & thing appertaining to his said Office according to Law then this obligation to be void or else to remain in full force & virtue.
