HARRIS [brackets, line breaks & surname capitalization mine] Southampton Co., VA, Deed Book 27 (1847-1850), pp. 512-13 28 Dec 1849 Thomas DRAKE to Baldy MOUNTFORD [MUMFORD, MUNFORD] Deed of Bargain & Sale This Indenture Made this 28.th day of December in the year one thousand eight hundred and forty Nine, between Thomas DRAKE of the one part and Baldy MOUNTFORD of the other part, Witnesseth, that the said Thomas DRAKE in Consideration of two hundred and fifteen Dollars, of lawful Money of this Commonwealth to him in hand paid by the said Baldy MOUNTFORD at or before the ensealing and delivery of these presents, the Receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged, have [sic] bargained and these presents do and each [sic] bargain and sell unto the said Baldy MUMFORD, his heirs and assigns, a Certain tract or parcel of Land Containing Seventy acres be the same More or less, bounded as follows to wit; Begining at a Small pine adjoining the Lands of Matthew WILLIAMS and lying on Browns Road, from thence a line between the old Chappell ground and said Land west to a large red oak, between said Land Matthew WILLIAMS and William JOYNER sen. a corner, thence a line South between said Land and William JOYNER to a large, Spruce pine a corner between said Land and William JOYNER Sr. and Robert PRETLOW thence a line strait between said Land and John PRETLOW to a large Red oak at said Browns road a corner between said Land and John PRETLOW and Uriah BRACY thence up the said Road between said Land, Uriah BRACY to a Cedar bush, between said Land and Uriah BRACY, Amelia MOUNTFORD thence North between said Land and Amelia MOUNTFORD to a post oak a Corner in Sally BEATONs line thence a line of Marked trees between said Land and Matthew WILLIAMS West to the first station together with all the singular [sic] houses barnes buildings stables yards Gardens orchards Lands Tenements Meadows pastures &c priviledges profits easements Commodities advantages Emoluments hereditaments and appurtenances whatsoever to the s.d Land belonging or in any wise appertaining or with the used enjoyed [illegible] reputed taken or known as part or parcel, or Member thereof or as belonging to the same or any part thereof and the reversion or reversions remainder or remainders, yearly and other rents, issues and profits thereof and every part and parcel thereof: To have and to hold the said tract or parcel of Land with the Tenements herein before Mentioned or intended to be bargained and sold and of every part and parcel thereof with every of their right Members [page break] [p.] 513 and appurtenances to the said Baldy MUMFORD his heirs and assigns forever to and for the only proper use and behoof of him the said Baldy MUMFORD his heirs and assigns forever: And the said Thomas DRAKE for himself his heirs the said tract of Land with all and singular the premises and appurtenances before Mentioned unto the said Baldy MOUNTFORD his heirs and assigns free from the claim or claims of him the said Thomas DRAKE his heirs &c and of and whatsoever person Claiming by him by these presents: In Witness Whereof the said Thomas DRAKE hath hereunto set his hand seal the day and year first above written Tho.s DRAKE *seal* + his Mark Signed Sealed and Delivered In presence of [blank- no witnesses given] Southampton County in the Clerks Office the 18.th day of February 1850 This Deed of Bargain and Sale from Thomas DRAKE to Baldy MOUNTFORD was acknowledged by said DRAKE and admitted to Record.
