NEWSOM to Harrison Peterson POPE, deed of bargain & sale, tavern in Jerusalem & 167a. on Flaggy Run, 24 Mar 1852 [margin note] Newsom to } Deed Kindred. This deed made the twentieth day of March in the year one thousand eight hundred and fifty two, between George A.W. Newsom of the first part and John J. Kindred of the second part; Witnesseth that the said Newsom for & in consid- eration of two hundred and fifty dollars in hand paid, the receipt of which is hereby acknowledged, hath granted, bargained and sold to the said Kindred the law office on which the said Kindred now resides and the land at- tached thereto, that is to say, as follows, the line to run perfectly Straight from the little Sycamore Standing Six or seven feet from this corner of the office next to the said Newsom's hotel to the pailings which separate the premises of the said Newsom from those of Fielding J. Mahone East or North East and perfectly parallel with the pailings which separate the said office from the premises of Wm. J. Sebrell or Nicholas Sebrell's heirs. And the said Newsom conveys to the said Kindred a full & perfect title which he warrants against the claims of all other persons whatsoever. In the Clerk's office the 24th day of March 1852 This deed of bargain and Sale from G.A.W. Newsom to Jno.J. Kindred was acknowledged by the said Newsom and admitted to record. Teste, L.R. Edwards, C.C. // [margin note] Newsom to } Deed Pope This deed made the 24th day of March in the 1852, between George A. W. Newsom of the one part, and Harrison P. Pope of the other part; Witnesseth that in considderation of the sum of Four thousand eight hundred and thirty five dollars, the said Newsom doth grant unto the said Pope a certain house and lot situated in the Town of Jerusalem designated as Lot No. 20, and at present occupied by the said Newsom as a Tavern, together with the garden horse lot and other lands attached thereto belonging to the Said Newsom also all the household furniture save & except such furniture as in the private part of the house and in the offices in the rear of the Tavern house : Also the said Newsom doth grant unto Pope a tract of land lying on Flaggy Run and which the said Newsom bought of Thomas C. Jones containing one hundred & Sixty seven acres more or less. And the said Newsom hereby covenants with the said Pope that he will deliver possession of the property above conveyed to the said Pope his heirs &c on the 25th day of December 1852, upon the said Pope's paying to him the said Newsom his Exors &c the above named sum of four thousand eight hundred & thirty five dollars. And that the said Pope his heirs &c shall thenceforth have & hold the said property free from all incum brance and against the claim, title or demand of all and every person or persons whomsoever.
