DRAKE to Wade MOUNTFORD Deed of Bargain & Sale [margin notes] DRAKE To MOUNTFORD } This Indenture Made this first day of November 1853, between Thomas DRAKE of the County of Southampton of the one part and Wade MOUNTFORD of County of Southampton of the other part. Witnesseth: that the said Thomas H. DRAKE for and in consideration of the just and full sum of one hundred fifty dollars current money of Virginia in hand paid by the said Wade MOUNTFORD, the recept [sic] whereof is hereby acknowledged, and [sic] the said Thomas H. DRAKE have [underlined] given, granted, bargained and sold, and by these presents do give, grant, bargain and sell unto the aforesaid Wade MOUNTFORD his heirs and assigns forever: all that tract or parcel of land which the said Thomas DRAKE purchased of James JOYNER called the old LEWIS tract, containing 50 acres, be the same more or less, boundaries viz: Commencing at Brown's road black Jack a corner tree lying east of Jerusalem about six miles down Brown's road to a Maple a corner tree, from the Maple a strate line north to a Persimon Tree a corner between said Land and James H. COUNCIL, thence a strate line down to the Marsh Branch between said land James COUNCIL and BUNN Land, thence up the said Marsh Branch, between the said land and BUNN Land to a certain tree between said land and the BUNN land and Thomas H. DRAKE, thence up the run of said branch South to Jerusalem road between said Land, Thomas H. DRAKE, from the road leading from Jerusalem to Black Water bridge, thence a line of marked trees to the beginning, Together with all houses & edifices whatsoever belonging or in any wise appertaining; To have the said tract or parcel of land to him and his heirs forever. And the said Thomas DRAKE and his heirs doth warrant and forever defend by these presents against the claim or claims of every person or persons claiming by or through him.
