All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/va/vafiles.htm ************************************************ Southampton County Virginia USGenWeb Archives Land Records Edward ALMAND [ALLMAN], patent, 360 acres, 25 Jun 1747 [margin note] Almand Edward 360} George the Second by the Grace of God of Great Britain France and Ireland King Defender of the Faith &c ~ To all to whom these Presents shall come Greeting Know ye That for diverse good Causes and ~ Considerac'ons but more especially for and in Consideracon of the sum' of Twenty five shillings of good and ~ lawful money for our use paid to our Receiver General of our Revenues in this our Colony and Dominion of ~ Virginia We have Given Granted and Confirmed and by these Presents for us our Heirs and ~ Successors Do Give Grant and Confirm unto Edward Almand one certain Tract or Parcel of Land containing three hundred and sixty acres lying and being in the County of Isle of Wight on the South Side of the main Black Water and bounded as followeth, to wit, Beginning at an Ash on the East side of Tuckers Swamp ~ a Corner of William Boykins Land Thence by the said Boykins Line East by North sixty nine Poles to a Black Oak Thence North forty degrees West eight poles to a Pine Then North eighty three degrees East forty poles to a red Oak in Edward Britts Line Thence. by the said Britts Line North twenty degrees West one hundred and twenty four poles to a Pine North eighty five degrees West sixty four poles to a red Oak North seventy six ~ poles to a Pine and North fifty five degrees East eighteen poles to a white Oak Then West by North one ~ one hundred and fifty six poles to a Pine Then South thirty degrees East fifty three poles to a ~ white Oak in Joseph Turners Line Thence by the said Turners Line North. twenty five degrees East twenty [page break] [p.] 115 six poles to a Pine Then South seventy degrees East one hundred and twenty poles to four Trees chopt Inwards Then North seventy three degrees East six poles to a Ash on the West side of Tuckers Swamp aforesaid and up the various Courses of the run of the said Swamp to the beginning (one hundred and thirty five acres part thereof being formerly granted unto Thomas Sherrod by Letters Patent & bearing date the twenty fourth day of March one thousand seven hundred and twenty five the right and title of which said One hundred and thirty five acres of Land is since become vested in the said Edward Almand and two hundred and twenty five acres the residue never before granted) With ~ all Woods Underwoods Swamps Marshes Low Grounds Meadows Feedings and his due share of all Viens Mines and Quarries as well discovered as not discovered within the bounds aforesaid and being part of the said Quantity of ~ three hundred and sixty acres of Land and the Rivers Waters and Watercourses therein contained Together with the Priviledges of Hunting Hawking Fishing Fowling and all other Profits Commodities and Hereditaments ~ whatsoever to the same or any part thereof belonging or in any wise appertaining To Have hold possess and enjoy the said Tract or Parcel of Land and all other the before granted Premises and every part thereof with their and every of their Appurt's unto the said Edward Almand and to his Heirs and Assigns for ever To the only use ~ and behoof of him the said Edward Almand his Heirs and Assigns forever To be held of us our Heirs and Successors as of our Mannor of East Greenwich in the County of Kent in free and com'on Soccage and not in Capite or by ~ Knights Service Yielding and Paying unto us our Heirs and Successors for every Fifty Acres of Land and so proportionally for a lesser or Greater Quantity than Fifty Acres the Fee Rent of one shilling yearly to be paid - Edward ALMOND conveyed to Edward BRITT on 9 May 1763 (proved 12 May 1763) 224 acres, "it being part of a tract or parcel of land which the said Edward Almond bought of Arthur Sherred."
