HERRING [HERRIN], deed of bargain & sale, 43 acres & personal property, 20 Mar 1856 (21 Apr 1856) This Deed made this 20" day of March in the year Eighteen hundred and fifty six, Between Arrington Britt of the one part and William T. Herring of the other part, both of the County of Southampton, Witnesseth; that in consideration of two hundred Dollars and forty two cents doth grant, unto the said William T. Herring one tract of land containing by Estimation forty three acres be the same more or less and bounded as follows North by the lands of Hartwell Bowden, East by Black Water river, South by Jordan Spivey and west by the lands of Margaret Bowden, and the said Arrington Britt do covenant and warrant generally the right and title to the aforesaid real estate hereby conveyed or intended to be conveyed to the said Wm. T. Herring to him and his heirs forever. Given under [page break] [p.] 95 my hand and seal the day and date as above written Witness Arrington Britt ĪSealĪ I.W. Duck N.C. Herrin Southampton County. In the Clerk's Office the 21st day of April 1856. This Deed of Bargain and Sale from Arrington Britt to Wm. T. Herring was prov- -ed as to the said Britt by the oath of N.C. Herrin a subscribing witnesses thereto And on the 16" day of February 1857. The said Deed was further proved as to the said Britt by the oath of I.W. Duck another subscribing witnesses thereto and was thereupon admitted to record. Teste, L.R. Edwards, C.C.
