Mahone decd. & Benjamin Lamb decd. and may be described as follows Begining at the Southwest corner of the Hotel building thence in a direction North east along the line of said building Kitchen and smoke House passing a large Sycamore Tree in open in rear of Garden to a Small Cycamore Standing on the line of a fence forming the rear or northern boundary of said Lot, thence in a direction South east along said fence and the rear of the line of stables to an intersection with the division line between said F.J. Mahone proper- ty and the Rochelle's estate property thence in a direction South West along said di- vision line between the said Mahone property and the Rochelle's estate property to the street thence to Point of beginning. The property is sold with the reservation of a free "Waggon Way" or Egress & ingress to the adjoining portion of said Mahone's estate, through the lane and Lot of the property described, such reservation and right to be secured in the Deed for said property, also all Manures upon the property offered for sale are hereby distinctly reserved to be removed at an early day, possession will be given at any day after the 23rd. Instant. Terms of Sale as required by decree of Court one Third cash and the balance in two bonds of equal sums payable Six & Eighteen months after date drawing interest from day of Sale and with approved Security. Tittle retained till the whole of the purchase money shall be paid when a Deed for the property will be duly executed all of the above & before mentioned Stipulations We bind ourselves to Keep and Perform. Witness our hands and Seals this 15th. day of December 1856 Samuel Kello ĪsealĪ Wm.W. Briggs Comr. ĪsealĪ Southampton County. In the Clerk's Office, the 5th. day of January 1857. This agreement was acknowledged by Wm.W. Briggs Comr. And on the 22d. day of December 1857. The said agreement was acknowledged by the Saml. Kello and thereupon admitted to record. Teste, L.R. (DAUGHTREY) KELLO sold this tract to Bolivar T. HENDERSON, 7 Nov 1859, and HENDERSON conveyed it - along with slaves & personal property - on the same day, in a deed of trust to Andrew J. KELLO, for Samuel's benefit. The deed of trust states that Samuel bought the property at public auction. WB17:195) His widow Rosa J. HENDERSON was granted administration on his estate, 20 Apr 1863. (Southampton Co. Court Minute Book 1861-70:99) Apparently this tract was returned to Samuel KELLO - he, wife Mary A.R., & son John G. KELLO sold it to Josephine Frances (DARDEN; Mrs. Henry S.) HOWARD, 9 Nov 1869.
