HENDERSON, deed of bargain & sale, Jerusalem, 18 Oct 1859 Bolivar T. HENDERSON to William W. BRIGGS, for John J. KINDRED, deed of trust, real & personal property, Jerusalem, 18 Oct 1859 This deed made this eighteenth day of October in the year one thousand eight hundred and fifty nine, between Jno.J. Kindred (Grantor) of the first part, and Bolivar T. Henderson Grantee of the other part, Witnesseth that the said grantor for and in consideration of the sum of nine hundred dollars to him paid by the said grantee, the receipt of which sum is hereby acknowledged, doth grant and convey to the said Henderson the lot and garden together with all the buildings thereon and a small portion of the land outside of the said lot and garden, but setting off a small strip of the garden which is reserved to the said grantor, at the North end thereof adjoining the lot of John Barham which the said Kindred lately purchased of Martha Mahone & others, the deed for which has been this day admitted to record in the Clerk's office of the County Court of Southampton that is to say the line made by the back part of the long Stables on the Tavern lot now in pos =session of said Henderson continued and extended in a Straight line till it meets or intersects a line which will be made by beginning at the point where the pail running from the north Easternmost corner of the said Kindred's law office touches or meets the pailing between the garden hereby conveyed and the back yard of the said Kindred's office and continuing this latter line till it meets an apple tree [page break] [p.] 509 lately chopped and from said tree to the first mentioned line which was made by extending the line of the back part of the said Stables. The two said lines meeting an an oak stake just driven into the ground by the said parties. But the Store house lately occupied by Richard H. Blythe and the law office now occupied by Wm.B. Shands are excepted in this deed from Mahone & others to said Kindred and possession to be given to said Henderson as prescribed in said deed from Mahone & others. And the said grantor warrants generally, the title to the property hereby granted and conveyed. Witness the following Signature and seal. Jno.J: Kindred, ¤Seal¤ Southampton County. In the Clerk's office, October 18th. 1859. This Deed of Bargain and sale was acknowledged by Jno.J. Kindred, a party thereto, and was admitted to record. Teste, L.R. Edwards, C.C. This deed of trust made this eighteenth day of October in the year one thousand eight hundred and fifty nine, between Bolivar T. Henderson (grantor) [&] William W. Briggs (trustee) Witnesseth: that the said Henderson doth grant and convey to the said Briggs the following property towit; all that parcel of land with all the buildings thereon conveyed and granted to the said Henderson by Jno.J. Kindred by deed admitted to record this day and at the same time with this Deed of trust, also all of the household and Kitchen furniture of Every Kind now in possession of the said Henderson in his hotel and dwelling house Cooking utensils, table ware of every Kind &c. In trust to secure a bond due the said Kindred of even date with this deed for the sum of nine hundred dollars. Witness the following signature and seal. B.T. Henderson ¤seal¤ Southampton County. Fielding Jordan MAHONE sold his 60-acre estate to John J. KINDRED, 7 Oct 1859; the deed was acknowledged by Otelia B. (Mrs. William) MAHONE, 17 Oct 1859 in Norfolk, and admitted 18 Oct 1859, even with the date of the deeds above, and the referenced bond.
