BRIGGS to James HOLT, deed of bargain & sale, 16 & 2/3a., Jerusalem, 1 Jan 1861 (18 Feb 1861) [margin note] Commissioner to } Holt This Deed made this 1st. day of January 1861, between Wm.W. Briggs Com- missioner appointed by a Decree of the County Court of So'ampton at August term 1855 to sell a certain tract or parcel of Land lying in Said County belonging to the estate of Fielding J. Mahone decd. of the one part and James Holt of the other part. Witnesseth that the said Wm.W. Briggs Commissioner as aforesaid in consideration of one Hundred Dollars to him paid by said James Holt, doth bargain and sell unto the said James Holt a certain tract or parcel of land in said Decree described lying in said County, containing by estimation Sixteen & 2/3 Acres more or less unto the said James Holt & his heirs forever conveying only Such title to said said [sic] Land as I hold as commissioner aforesaid [page break] [p.] 30 Witness my hand and seal, the day and year first above written. (MAHONE) BRIGGS brought suit in Chancery Court (Case 1855-017), leading to this sale. They & the other heirs of Fielding J. MAHONE sold the 60-acre farm, in and near Jerusalem, to John Julius KINDRED, 7 Oct 1859 (18 Oct 1859).
