KINDRED to Josephine Frances (DARDEN; Mrs. Henry S.) HOWARD, deed of bargain & sale, 2a., Jerusalem, 17 May 1869 This Deed Made this Seventeenth day of May in the year One Thousand Eight hundred & Sixty Nine, between David H. Kindred of the first part, & Josephine Howard of the other part, both of the County of Southampton & State of Virginia, Witnesseth, as follows, Whereas John J. Kindred, did on the first day of May A.D. 1868, execute & record in the Clerk's Office of the County Court of Southampton County, a Deed of Trust to Secure Benjamin B. Kindred from all loss as Surety for the Said John J. Kindred, Conveying & granting to the Said David H. Kindred, Trustee for that purpose, a Certain Lot, tenement & Messuage Situated in the Village of Jerusalem & Commonly Known as the Mahone house, Which Said Lot Contains two acres, More or less _ by estimation, adjoining "Howard's Hotel," the Store house belonging to the Estate of F.J. Mahone decd. the land belonging to the Estate of John Barham decd. & the Lot upon which is Situated Pope's Hotel, lately Occupied by the said John Barham. And whereas the Said B.B. Kindred has already Suffered loss as Surety for the Said John J. Kindred, as aforesaid, & the Said David H. Kindred has been directed by the Said B.B. Kindred to Sell the Said house & lot, & the Said D.H. Kindred, after having duly advertised the Same according to Law, did Sell the Said real Estate at auction for Cash, & the Said Josephine Howard became the purchaser at the purchaser at the Sum of Six hundred dollars, which has been paid to the Said David by her._ Now This Deed Witnesseth, that the Said David H. Kindred, for & in Consideration of the premises, doth hereby grant & convey to the Said Josephine Howard all of the Said Lot, with all the buildings, privileges & appurten= =ances in any wise belonging to Same, with Special warranty. ~ Witness the following Signature & Seal, this 17th. day of May A.D. 1869. ~ In presence of } David H. Kindred, (Trustee,) to Josephine Howard, was this day proved by the Oaths of Wm.R. Parker & Wm.B. Shands, the Subscribing witnesses thereto & admitted to record._ Stamps of the Int.
