Know ye for divers good causes and considerations but more especially for and in consideration of the sum of Five shillings of good and lawful money for our use paid to our Receiver General of our Revenues in this our Colony and Dominion of Virginia We have given granted and confirmed and by these presents for us our heirs and successors Do give grant and confirm unto James Jordon Scott one certain Tract or parcel of Land containing thirty Acres lying and being in the County of Southampton and bounded as followeth, to wit, Beginning at a gum a corner tree of John Joyner's Land thence North four degrees West one hundred and thirty nine poles to a white oak a corner of William Haynes's Land thence South sixty degrees East one hundred and forty poles to a live oak another corner of the said Haynes's Land thence South eighty nine degrees West sixty poles to an oak & thence South thirty seven degrees West seventy six poles to the beginning. With all &c. To have hold &c. To be held &c. Yielding and paying &c. Provided &c. In Witness &c. Witness our trusty and welbeloved Noborne Baron de Botetourt our Lieutenant & Governor General of our said Colony and Dominion at Williamsburg under the seal of our said Colony the fourteenth day of July one thousand seven hundred and sixty nine In the ninth year of our Reign.
