Know ye that for divers good Causes and ._ Considerations but more especially for and in Consideration of the ~ sum of ten shillings of good and lawful money for our use paid to our Receiver General of our Revenues in this our Colony and Dominion of Virginia We have given granted and confirmed and by these presents for us our Heirs and Successors Do give grant and confirm unto John Brett one certain tract or parcel of Land containing seventy four acres lying and being in the County of Southampton on the north side of ~ Nottoway River and bounded as followeth, to wit, Beginning at a pine corner between the said Brett and Robert Mercer thence along Mercer's Lines North one hundred and sixty two Poles to a Pine and North seventy degrees East thirty eight Poles to a Pine - Richard Cocke's corner thence along Richard Cocke's Line North forty seven Degrees West fifty poles to Richard Manning's corner Oak then along Manning's Line South two Degrees East nineteen Poles to a Pine South forty seven degrees ~ West sixty Poles to an Oak and South twenty one Degrees West one ~ hundred and two Poles to Tarrapin Branch then down the various ~ Courses of the Run of the same to a Gum in the said Bretts Line and along his Line South seventy degrees East one hundred and two poles to the Beginning With all &c.
