To all &c. Know ye that for divers good causes & Considerations but more especially for and in Consideration of the sum of Thirty shillings of good and lawful money for our use paid to our Receiver General of our Revenues in this our Colony & Dominion of Virginia We have given granted and confirmed and by these Presents for us our Heirs and Successors Do give grant and confirm unto Burwell Williamson one certain tract or parcel of Land containing two hundred and sixty seven acres lying and being in the Parish of Nottoway in the County of Southampton on the South side of black Water River and bounded as followeth, to wit, ~ Beginning at a Live Oak Burwell Williamson's and Thomas Holliman's corner thence South fifty Degrees East seventy five Poles to a Pine, ~ Burwell Williamson's corner in the head of a branch thence by his lines down the branch South Seventy seven Degrees West eighty six Poles to a [page break] [p.] (360) a black Gum South fifty five Degrees East one hundred and eight Poles to a live Oak South seventy four Degrees East seventy two Poles to a dead pine and South twenty three Degrees East eighty Poles to a red Oak John Harris's corner thence South eighty seven Degrees East seventy Poles to a pine, thence North thirty seven Degrees East fifty two Poles to a sweet Gum thence North fifteen Degrees West ~ twenty eight Poles toa small white Oak North seventy one Degrees West thirty two Poles to a pine John Griffin's corner thence North thirty four Degrees West three hundred and fifty Poles to three trees chopt inwards thence South West one hundred Poles to the Beginning With all &c.
