MUNFORD Deed of Bargain & Sale [margin notes] Examd. This Deed made this 4th day of Jan: in the year one thousand eight hundred eighty-nine between Carr MOUNTFORD [altered from "MUNFORD"] and Wilmoth L., his wife, of the first part, Susan E. MOUNTFORD [altered from "MUNFORD"] of the second part Witnesseth, that in consideration of the sum of two hundred and fifty dollars, the said parties of the first part do grant unto the said Susan E. MOUNTFORD, with general warranty, all their right, title and interest in a certain piece or parcel of land Known as the Orrin DOLES track formally ['formerly'?] a part of the E.E. KITCHEN lands and bounded as follows, on the South by the public road leading across lower Round hill bridge, on the East & North by round hill Swamp, on the west by the land of Daniel WARREN, containig fifty acres Moore [sic] or less. The said parties of the first part covenants [sic] that they have the right to convey the said land to the grantee, that they have done no act to encumber the said land; that the grantee shall have quiet possession of the said land, free from all encumbrances, and that they parties of the first part will execute such firther [sic] assurances of the said land, as may be requisite Witness the following signatures and seals Carr MOUNTFORD *Seal* X his mark Wilmoth L. W. RAIFORD J.P. State of Virginia} County of Southampton} to wit: I, Geo. W. RAIFORD a Justice for the County of Southampton in the State of Virginia do certify that Wilmoth L. MOUNTFORD the wife of Carr MOUNTFORD whose names are signed to the within writing bearing date on the 4th day of Jany: 1889 personally appeared before me in the County aforesaid and being examined by me privily and apart from her husband and having the writing aforesaid fully explained to her, she, the said Wilmoth L.
