BRITTLE Deed of Bargain & Sale [margin notes] Examined & delivered to E. Frank STORY Apl. 25, 1906. This Deed: Made this 1st. day of January 1901 between W.H. MUNTFORD and Annie MUNTFORD, his wife, of Southampton County Virginia, parties of the first part, and P.F. BRITTLE of County and State aforesaid, party of the second part: Witnesseth: That the said parties of the first part, for and in consideration of the sum of Four Hundred and Fifty ($450.00) Dollars to them in hand paid, at and before the signing, sealing, and delivery of these presents, the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged, do grant, bargain, sell, and convey, with General Warranty unto the said party of the second part the following real property, namely, all of that certain tract or parcel of land lying situate and being in Southampton County, Virginia, bounded and described as follows, to wit:- On the North by the lands of Amos JOYNER; on the east by the lands of Pierce TURNER, deceased, and Walter COBB; on the south by the lands of Walter COBB and J.D. PRETLOW; on the west by the lands of James BUTLER, or the County Road leading from Black Creek Friends Church to Franklin Va. It being the same tract or parcel of land conveyed to the said W.H. MUNTFORD by J.D. PRETLOW and wife, as evidenced by a certain deed of bargain and sale, bearing date the 20th. day of November 1896, and of record in the clerks office of the County Court of Southampton County (D.B. 44, page 33), and containing forty-seven (47) acres more or less. The timber on this land has been sold to the Surry Lumber Company, and is conveyed to the said P.F. BRITTLE subject to all the rights conveyed to the said Company, by deed from J.D. PRETLOW and wife. The said parties of the first part covenant that they have a right to convey the said land to the grantee; that they have done no act to encumber the said land; that the grantee shall have quiet possession of the said land, free from all encumbrances, and that they the said parties of the first part, will execute such further assurances of the said land as may be requisite to give the said grantee a full and complete title to the said land.
