Not recorded) This Indenture made this 12th Day of September one thousand seven hundred & Fifty one & in the Twenty fourth Year of the Reign of Our Lord George by the Grace of God of Great Britain, France & Ireland Defender of the Faith. Between Jesse BOYKIN of North Carolina in Edgcombe County of the one part & Benj. HARRIS of Southampton County in Virginia of the other part. Witnesseth that the said Jesse BOYKIN for and in consideration of the Sum of Thirty pounds Current Money of Virginia to him in Hand paid by the said Benjamin HARRIS at & before the Ensealing and Delivery hereof the Receipt whereof the said Jesse BOYKIN doth hereby acknowledge & thereof doth Acquit the said HARRIS his Heirs Exors & Admrs. Hath Granted Bargained Sold Aliened Ensued confirmed & made Over & by these Present Doth Grant Bargain Sell Alien Enseos? Confirm & make over unto the said Benjamin HARRIS his Heirs or Assigns one Certain Tract or Parcel of Land Situate lying & being on the South Side of the Flat Swamp in Southampton County aforesaid, bounded as followeth (to wit) Beginning at a Poplar then South west by West seven pole to a Red Oak a Corner tree of William EVANS Land then by EVAN’S line South five degrees west one hundred & six pole to a White Oak then south seventy six degrees East eighteen pole to a pine sapling a corner tree of William SMELLY’S Junr. His Land & the same course farther one hundred & fourteen pole to a Red Oak then east North East one hundred & ten pole to a Red oak then North fifteen degrees East Sixty seven pole to a Red Oak then North sixty seven Degrees West fifty four pole to a pine then west forty pole to a white oak then west south west sixteen poles to a cypress by the side of the Flat Swamp aforesaid & up the Various courses of the Run of the said Swamp to the beginning the said Land containing one hundred & fifty acres by Patent Granted to Robert SMELLY bearing Date the thirteenth Day of October one Thousand seven hundred & twenty seven & conveyed by Deeds from Robert SMELLY to Edward BOYKIN bearing date the Twenty seventh Day of October One thousand seven Hundred & twenty nine Referance being thereunto had may more fully & at large appear & held by the Sd. Jesse BOYKIN as being Heir at Law to his Father Edward BOYKIN & the Reversion & Reversions Remainder & Remainders with all & Singular the Appurtenances thereunto Natural or in anywise belonging to have & to hold the said Land & premises with the appurtenances to him the said Benjamin HARRIS his Heirs or Assigns & the said Jesse BOYKIN for himself & his Heirs Exors. & Admors. Dot Covenant Grant & Agree to & with the said HARRIS that it shall & may be Lawful for the said Benjamin HARRIS his Heirs or Assigns to have hold Occupy Possess & Enjoy the said Land & premises with there appurtenances without any trouble suit set molestation or interruption of the said Jesse BOYKIN or his heirs or Assigns or any other person or persons whatsoever. & the same he will Warrant and forever Defend In Witness Whereof the said Jesse BOYKIN hath hereunto Set his hand & Affixed his Seal the Day and Year first above Written.
