SOUTHAMPTON COUNTY, VA - DEEDS - George Rotchel To Benjamin Harris, 1751 ----¤¤¤---- Edgecombe Co., N.C. 12 Sept. 1751 (Xerox copied from the Edgecombe Co., Courthouse p. 246-247-I did not record the deed book) This Indenture made this 12th Day of September One thousand seven hundred & Fifty one Between George ROTCHELL & Mary his Wife of North Carolina in Edgcombe County of the one part & Benjamin HARRIS of Southampton County in Virginia of the other Part. Witnesseth that the said George ROTCHEL & Mary his Wife for and in Consideration of the Sum of Ten Pounds Current Money of Virginia to them in hand paid by the sd. Benjamin HARRIS at & before the Ensealing & Delivery hereof the Receipt whereof the said George & Mary Doth hereby Acknowledge & thereof doth Acquit the said Benjamin HARRIS his Heirs Exors. & Admrs. Hath Granted Bargained Sold Aliened Ensued & Confirmed & made Over & by these Presents doth Grant Bargina sell Alien En--- Confirm & make Over unto the Said Benjamin HARRIS his Heirs or Assigns one certain Tract or Parcel of Land Situate lying & being on the South side of the Flat Swamp in Southampton County aforesaid & Bounded as followeth (to wit) Beginning at a pine sapling a corner of James TURNERS land in the Line of Edward BOYKIN Land thence by the said TURNERS line south Twenty degrees East one hundred & twenty four pole to a Red Oak Saplin then North Seventy five degrees East seventy eight pole to a Red Oak Saplin then North Sixty eight poles to a red oak a corner of Edward BOYKINS land then by BOYKINS line North seventy six degrees West one hundred & twenty poles to the beginning the said Land containing fifty acres by Patent Granted to Mary BOYKIN (who is now the said Mary Wife to the said George ROTCHELL aforesaid) by the Honbl. William GOOCH, Esq. His Majestys Lieutenant Governour & commander in the Colony of Virginia Dated in the Twenty first year of the Reign of Our Sovereign George the second One Thousand seven hundred & forty seven relating being thereunto had may more fully & at large appear also the Reversion Reversions Remainder & Remainders with all & Singular the Appurtenances thereunto Natural or in anywise belonging to have and to hold the said Land & Premises with the Appurtenances to him the said Benjamin HARRIS his Heirs & Assigns & the said George & Mary for themselves their Heirs Exors. & Admors. Doth Covenant Grant & Agree to & with the sd. Benjamin HARRIS that it shall & may be Lawful for the said Benjamin HARRIS his Heirs or Assigns to have hold Occupy Possess & enjoy the said Land & Premises with their Appurtenances without any trouble Suit & Let Molestation or Interruption of the said George ROTCHELL or Mary his wife their Heirs or Assigns or any other Person or persons whatsoever & the same he will Warrant & forever Defend IN Witness whereof the said George & Mary have hereunto set their Hands & Affixed their Seals the Day and Year first above Written.
