SOUTHAMPTON COUNTY, VA - DEEDS - Mary Butts to Benjamin Wrenn, 5 Feb 1814 --------------¤¤¤¤¤¤-------------- Southampton Co. VA Deed Book 13, pgs 333, 334 FHLC #34010 This Indenture made this fifth day of February Anno Domini one thousand eight hundred and fourteen between Mary Butts for and in consideration of the sum of Ninety three Pounds fifteen shillings to her in hand paid by the said Benjn Wrenn the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged she the said Mary Butts have granted bargained and sold and by these presents doth grant bargain and sell unto the said Benjn Wrenn and to his heirs and assigns forever all her interest right & title to an certain tract or Parcel of land in Southampton County supposed to contain four hundred and eighty six acres be the same more or less it being the land whereon Thomas Gilliam formerly lived which she recovered on twenty second of Octr? One thousand eight hundred and thirteen by a suit in the high court of Chancery on the south side of the Racoon swamp and is bounded as followeth – beginning at the Persimmon tree on the said swamp on Robert Nicholson's line, thence along the said Nicholsons line to the line of the land belonging to the estate of Kinchen Jelks decd – thence along said line to the line of the land belonging to the estate of Barham decd thence along the said line to Levi Rochells line thence along the said line to the Racoon swamp -- thence down the various courses of the said swamp to the beginning and also the reversion and reversions remainder and remainders thereof together with all the estate right title property, claim and demand whatsoever unto the said tract or Parcel of land belonging to have and to hold the said land and Premises with all the appurtenances thereto belonging, unto him the said Benjamin Wrenn his heirs and assigns to the only Proper use and behoof of him the said Benjamin Wrenn his heirs and assigns forever -- and the said Mary Butts for herself her heirs executors and administrators the said tract or Parcel of land and premises with all and singular the appurtenances unto the said Benjamin Wrenn his heirs and assigns against the claim of her the said Mary Butts and her heirs shall will and do warrant and forever defend by these Presents -- In Witness whereof the said Mary have hereunto set her hand and seal the day and year just above Written -------- Signed Sealed and acknowledged her In Presence of us } Mary Butts + (Seal) John Butts mark William Butts Joseph Clanton James Butts At at Court held for the county of Southampton the day of February 1814 This Indenture was proved by the oaths of John Butts William Butts and James Butts three of the Witnesses thereto and ordered to be Recorded James Kells Cl ___________________________________________________________________ Copyright.
