Buford's Defeat Southampton County At a court held for Southampton the 15th of November 1788: William Simmons who was a petitioner under the same service of Col. Buford having at a former court made application to be replaced for the ____ above on the pension list being referred to Doctor Halmer reported that the said W. Simmons is so disabled by a wound in his arm as to render him incapable of the proper use of it that he hath several other wounds of like ____ that the court that he ____ so ___ as incapable of hard labour (rest unreadable except that he was recommended by the Court to be put on the pension list ) Signed: Sam Kellar? I do with the advice of Council certify that Wm. Simmons aged about 28 years of age, late a serjeant in Col. Buford's Detachment was disabled in such a manner in the service of the United States by a wound in his arm as to entitle him to the sum of fifteen pounds yearly, commencing on the first day of January 1786.
