A Baptist Minister's House and Crops De- stroyed by Fire. (Correspondence of the Richmond Dispatch.) April 29, 1884.- On last Sunday morning the Rev. J. Edwin Stephenson, a Baptist minister of this county, took his family to one of his charges, and upon his return in the afternoon found, to his great astonishment and horror, that every building on his plantation (with the exception of one or two out-houses) had been consumed by fire in his absence. The loss is very heavy, especially to a poor man. He had not sold his last year's crop, including peanuts, corn and fodder, and he is now left in a truly destitute condition, having not even a change of clothing. He has a wife and five or six little children, and he ought to receive the substantial sympathy of the entire community. ANON. "The Richmond (VA) Dispatch," Apr. 30, 1884 (Vol. 65, No. 104), p. 2, col. 3 No marriages by James E. STEPHENSON are recorded Southampton Co. between 13 Mar and 23 Oct 1884. (Southampton Co.
