In the Virginia Senate, yesterday, the immigration bill was laid on the table, amendments to the dog law were proposed, and the tobacco inspection bill (repealing the 56th section of the existing law) was debated and laid over until to-day. In the House of Delegates the Senate bill allowing the R.L.I. Blues to change their uniform was read and referred; an adverse report was returned on the bill amending the Code in relation to the appointment of a clerk and assistant keepers of the Penitentiary, and the House joint resolutions in relation to West Virginia and the public debt were ordered to be printed. A bill appropriating twelve hundred dollars for a new heating apparatus, and for ventilating the Hall of the House of Delegates, was passed; also the following bills: In relation to process of presentment, indictment, or information; to incorporate the town of Franklin, Southampton county; providing a charter for the town of Manchester; for the relief of the sheriff of Charles City county; amending the Code in relation to the University; incorporating the Ladies' Memorial Association of Westmoreland county; prescribing the number of votes to which the stockholders of the Shenandoah Valley Agricultural Society are entitled in the meeting of the company; amending the Code with reference to non-residents fishing in the waters of the Commonwealth, and amending the Code in relation to public free schools. To amend section 10 of an act to provide for the election and qualification of county officers, approved March 8, 1875. To amend section 12 of the charter of the city of Manchester. To amend section 27 of chapter 189, Session-Acts of 1872-'73, and providing a charter for the city of Norfolk. To incorporate the town of Franklin, Southampton county. To amend section 10 of chapter 80 of the Code, edition of 1873, in relation to the University of Virginia. To amend tbe 15th section ofan act approved March 27, 1874, entitled "An act to prescribe the times for holding the circuit courts." To change the name of tbe Fredericksburg and Gordonsville Railroad Company to the Potomac, Fredericksburg and Piedmont Railroad Company. Directing the sale of the State's interest in the Thornton's Gap Turnpike Company. To amend the act to provide for the organization and government of tbe volunteer militia of the State, and to repeal existing laws concerning the same, approved April 24, 1874, by adding two additional sections.
